(PART THREE)

"Mmmmph..."

Kyle deflated on the bed, panting. Whatever little energy he might have been able to save up earlier was now gone. After Roxanne had left him in the dark he thrashed wildly, trying anything to escape his bindings, but to no avail. Now, exhausted, all he could do was rest his head on one of the many pillows on the bed and try not to let the tears gathering in his eyes fall down his cheeks. Absentmindedly, he began chewing on the strip of tape she had used to cover his mouth. "Grmmmmfmm."

When the door squeaked open, Kyle didn't even have the energy to jump. Instead, he sadly looked up to see who had decided to come in and torment him now. Surprisingly, it was Annie. Her slender frame squeezed in through the door after she opened the smallest possible gap she could fit through.

She stared at Kyle for a bit. Kyle stared back.

"Ummm...sorry about Roxanne. We've been living together for so long, she just gets protective, you know?"

"Mph."

Annie played with her hands nervously "Sorry...I still don't think I'm supposed to take anything off you," she said sadly. At least she had the decency to look regretful about leaving him tied up on the bed. "In any case, I'll talk to Roxanne and see if I can get her off your back a little bit. She's usually not that...easy to anger. It's just been a tough ride for all of us."

"Mmmmphmm!" Kyle grumbled, and Annie laughed quietly. "Okay, okay. It's been a tough ride for all of us, but especially you. I'll be sure to mention that.

Thank goodness. Out of the entire crew, Kyle had only come into contact with Roxanne and Annie. Looking up at the petite girl, Kyle wondered if she was even twenty years of age yet. She looked like a teenager, frail and skinny and self conscious.

"Ahem."

Both of them turned to see Roxanne, thankfully looking a lot calmer, leaning in the doorway. "I've taken your testimony into account Annie, and.." she turned to face Kyle, then backed out at the last second and started playing with one of her curls so she wouldn't have to look at him in the eye "Kyle, I'm sorry. You were scared and confused and snapped at someone I cared about, and I completely freaked out and was being a bitch. Truce?"

"Mmmph."

Kyle hesitantly nodded, trying to blink back the last of his tears, but he was still wary. "*sigh*, It's okay sweetheart," Roxanne said softly, holding up her hands in what she hoped was a non-threatening gesture and making her way towards her captive. "Like I said earlier, no one on this bus is going to hurt you, and that includes me. How about I get you out of this, you can get cleaned up a little, and we talk like civil people?"

Oh THANK GOD that meant he could finally get out of these belts! Kyle nodded enthusiastically, trying to twist up to meet her and mumbling anxiously behind the tape. Within a few minutes he was finally free and able to stretch, but jumped when a familiar black scarf slipped back over his eyes.

"Wai-what?" he jerked.

"I'm going to lead you to the bathroom, we already took your change of clothes from your locker at the museum and they're waiting for you inside. Take a shower, brush your teeth, do whatever you have to do." he heard Roxanne say as she took his hand and gently started guiding him. "I just need you to keep this on until you get inside. Can't have you looking out any of the windows, sorry."

Thankfully the bathroom itself was windowless, and as soon as he heard the door shut behind him Kyle was able to rip off the blindfold. Roxanne was right, there were his clothes, all neatly folded on the counter. Slipping out of his uniform, Kyle took his time getting cleaned up before changing into his regular t-shirt and jeans and knocking on the bathroom door, letting Roxanne know he was ready to come out.

She blinded him once more, leading him back to a different area of the RV this time before giving him his sight back once again. It looked like a small living space, and all the curtains were drawn to block out all sense of the outside. It was then that Kyle noticed that the vehicle no longer seemed to be moving.

Also, there was Annie sitting on a couch. And two other girls that were staring at him in a way that made him feel even more uncomfortable about this situation than he had originally. One of the girls appraised him with a raised eyebrow, the only hair she had on her head, like he was one of the pieces of artwork they had just stolen. The other had a hungry, wild look in her eye that made Kyle shiver.

"Why don't you sit down sweetheart, and we can talk this out like normal people." Roxanne said, though it came out like more of an order than a question. Not wanting to piss her off even more than he had earlier, Kyle happily obliged, though he opted to plop down on the soft carpet rather than sit with any of the women who had stolen him. Roxanne made her way to the couch and sat with the other members of her crew, all four of which had their focus entirely on Kyle.

"Let's start with the basics. I'm Roxanne. You already met Annie. This is Pepper, and that one's Dani." Roxanne said, turning to point to the girl with the shaved head and the one who was still sneering at him, respectively. "Oh, so NOW we're getting all chummy with the names? Why? Does that mean we get to kill him?"

Kyle squeaked, flinching unconsciously "No need! Seriously no need for that! In fact, why don't you guys just drop me off here? We're plenty far away from the museum, right? With any luck I can find a bus stop and-"

"Dammit Dani this is why we can't trust you to do shit." Pepper growled, glaring at the girl sitting next to her "Can you please take this seriously? We literally just kidnapped someone. That's already farther than I was willing to go with this. We are NOT murderers."

Roxanne lifted one of her hands to pinch the bridge of her nose. "Kyle, you can stop trembling, we're not going to kill you." Her words comforted him enough to make him unwind from the little ball he had made himself into on the floor. "The thing is...we can't let you go yet either."

"WHAT?! Why not???" Kyle shouted. Honestly, hadn't he been through enough?

"BECAUSE...we were so not prepared for this." Roxanne sighed, slumping down and cradling her face in her hands. "This was supposed to be an easy job. We steal some art, make a name for the Thorny Roses, sell the goods to the buyer we already had lined up, and be on our merry way. But then we found you, the alarm got tripped, and our...business partners got anxious."

"Oh yeah? Probably not as anxious as I'm feeling right now sister," Kyle scoffed "What does that have to do with me anyway? Oh yeah, I'm SO SORRY I made your little Fast and Furious stunt a little harder, but why do I have to come along for the ride? Also, Thorny Roses? Seriously?"

Roxanne huffed, lifting her face out of her hands to glare at him. "Me and Annie met these two in college, needed a name for a girl gang...yeah it's kind of dumb." she admitted "But to answer your question, we needed some kind of bargaining chip with our buyer to let them know that we can get the merchandise to them safely. So...we told them we had you."

Roxanne leaned toward Kyle "Your health and relative safety is the important thing here. Even IF any authorities find us, which they shouldn't, they won't come in guns blazing because they know we have not only the art, but a hostage. So we go to the drop off point, and lay low for a little while until our buyers are sure that they can come out without any guns drawn on them. The exchange is made, and then we don't have any more use for you," she finished.

"So...I'm just supposed to wait it out with you for a few days, right? Then you promise you'll let me go?" Kyle asked tentatively. Thankfully, all four of the girls nodded their heads. "No offense but, we really don't want you with us." Annie said quietly. "That sounded mean! I mean-we just-"

"What she means is we aren't kidnappers. Art thieves yes, kidnappers no. This is out of our league and trust us, it was a spur of the moment thing that we weren't prepared for but hopefully we can get this all settled within a week," Pepper finished, giving a small smile to the young girl.

Kyle let himself breathe a sigh of relief. A week. He could do that, right? Live with four girls for a week and pretend they were just some buddies that he's camping with instead of kidnappers who aren't really kidnappers. That sounded doable.

The relative peace was interrupted, however, when all of a sudden there was a knock at front door of the RV. Kyle's eyes went wide, but before he could think to do anything else Roxanne pounced on him once again.

"Nnnmmph! Hlmmmphmmm!" Kyle tried yelling, desperately trying to twist away from the hand that had clamped down over his mouth. "Annie, answer the door for us, okay? Pepper, help me out here." Roxanne barked, and soon Kyle was lifted up by his shoulders and feet and dragged into the back bedroom where he had woken up in earlier.

"Mmmph mmmph!"

Kyle thrashed as best he could, but Roxanne and Pepper had the advantage of having taken him off guard. Quickly, the two of them had grabbed Roxanne's roll of duct tape from earlier and used it to tie his wrists behind his back and secure his knees and ankles together.

"Sorry about this sweetheart, I promise it won't be like this all the time." Roxanne said, wincing. She took her palm off Kyle's lips, only to stuff a soft cotton bundle into his mouth before he could let loose another scream. Grabbing the scarf from earlier, she cleaved it between his lips and secured it tightly, ensuring that he wouldn't be able to spit out the first cloth.

"Mphmmmph!"

"Where are we supposed to put him?" Pepper whisper-shouted, eyeing the door and trying to listen in on the conversation going on outside but not being able to make out individual words. "In the closet, open the trunk" Roxanne ordered, picking up a wriggling Kyle princess-style and walking over to where a large, softly-padded chest stood waiting.

"Grmmphmmm!"

Kyle shook his  head, but couldn't do much else as Roxanne gently placed him into the wooden chest, bending his knees slightly so that he would fit. "We'll let you out later! Just let us take care of whoever came-a-knocking, alright?" Roxanne chirped, though it was obvious that her cheeriness was strained as she grabbed a thick quilt from one of the closet shelves and tucked it around Kyle, immobilizing him even more.

"That oughta do it. Let's go Pepper."

And with that, Roxanne closed the lid, leaving Kyle all wrapped up and swaddled inside the dark interior of the chest. He tried shouting, but was unable to get anything more than muffled grumbles out from behind the soft stuffing that was held inside his mouth. Moving around wasn't much of an option either. Beneath the quilt his legs and wrists were taped together too tightly for him to get out of.

"Mmmph! Mphmmphhhh...." Kyle sighed, annoyed that he had been without any restraints for such a short period of time. There wasn't anything he could do though. He would just have to wait it out inside his little blanket-box until either:

A). Roxanne came back to let him out, or
B). Whoever knocked on the door was the police here to rescue him and they would let him out.

Kyle huffed again, chewing on the wadded up ball of cloth Roxanne had stuffed his mouth with and trying to shift into a somewhat comfortable position. He could tell it was probably going to be a while before he got let out.
