I was also thinking this might do along the lines of the robotech saga, but Z.O.E. is also a neat idea.

Star Fox 2 for the SNES was originally going to have the Arwing transform into a bipedal walking mecha, but this idea was eventually scraped. I hope Nintendo introduces a transformable Arwing in the games later on. I like to see something similer to a Valkyrie from Macross.
