Description This is the second piece I did based on blurbs I've found in posts and comments about Hydrothrax's head worlds I do not have any claims to. This is just me brain storming what Aerosaur hunting could look like and work. You could almost call this fan fiction.

Continued from (part 1)
Once the missile reaches a certain altitude it opens up launching an armor piercing spear looking thing with a needle at the point and an electric powered propeller that's small but powerful. Its electric powered to keep it quiet as possible to make the weapon more sneaky and less obvious to the aerosaur. It is traveling at a high velocity when launched the propeller is to keep its velocity sustained. The spears design makes its guidance systems relatively limited making it easier for an aerosaur that's nimble enough to dodge and I would assume that some can even catch these spears with their feet and throw it back at the hunters on the ground or dispose of it some how by dropping it in the ocean or what ever. Thus making a high altitude kill like this more risky.

When the spear strikes the aerosaur it would release some sort of poison or acid or maybe some kind of anti-nanite matter injected through the needle at the tip, not sure on this as again I am not an expert on aerosaur anatomy. So what ever it might use it would have to cause the aerosaur to lose consciousness so it falls from the sky. Causing another issue with high altitude kills. Its a long way to fall and the aerosaur will likely suffer damage to its insides and exterior on impact killing it unless its already dead and leaving the hunters to work with what ever is salvageable or still in tacked. So some hunters are likely to develop some sort of thing that takes control over the aerosaur giving the hunters the ability to fly it like an RC plane and guide it safely to the ground and then cutting it up. Also over time some aerosaurs are likely to develop immunity to various poisons or stronger resistance to systems overthrow mechanisms. Causing hunters to be more creative on making up different ways of taking them down. Explosives are something that's seldom used by hunters as you would want to keep your pray in tacked so you can cut it up and sell off its various guts. Ware as if you blew it up yeah it'd be dead but in a thousand little pieces making it worthless.

Another thing hunters need be concius of is. if they shoot down one flying in a group the risks of being attacked goes up. They also need to chose ones that arn't from a military because otherwise what ever civilization's army its from will be upset that their plane is shot down and if a human pilot is missing then it could be considered an offense and the hunters who did it will eather pay a fine or get thrown in jail. If they are not from that particular civilisation or tribe the army will likely send troops out to kill them. but obviously huntyers are likely to track the transponders and such of a plane identifying it. if they can be found and of course their would be rogue hunters who arnt really part of anything and just nomadic and do their own thing.

Once on the ground a GPS in the spear will relay the location but some times the spears fall out or are pulled out by the aerosaur its self. Which would mean that the spear would have to inject enough substance to knock it out in about 3 to 5 seconds giving the aerosaur less time to react. So the spear may not always end up at the same place the aerosaur is crashed. So drones and such are used by the hunters to locate the wreck.

once the wreck is found... continue on (part 3)
