It's been way too long since I've done references for my dragons, so here we go with one of the companion characters.

Meri is a Dual-Finned Water Dragon, named for the split fins at the end of their tail. Though known as water dragons, this species is more amphibian in nature; they breathe air and walk upright on land, but spend a majority of their time in water or somewhat marshy territory. This species' population is scattered across North and South America.
Like most aquatic creatures, water dragons don't have scales. Rather, they have very thick rubbery skin. This allows for greater aerodynamics in the air and especially water. Their wings are half-feathered, coated in oils that repel water. Webbed hands and feet propel them through water effortlessly. Their horns are simple and smooth. While generally passive creatures, they are perfectly capable of defending themselves with long, serrated fangs used for catching swift prey.

These dragons commonly live around wetlands and lakes, generally most large areas full of fresh water. They're fairly social dragons that can share territories with multiple other dragons. Only during mating season do they become more protective of whose company they endure. Unlike fighting dragons, fights between water dragons are rarely deadly. Being less armoured makes them less likely to engage in mortal combat.
Depending on their location, some water dragons migrate to warmer climates in the winter. This can involve swimming down rivers or flying the distance, though this must be done in bursts as their flying endurance is more lacking than most.

True to her species, Meri is a bright and sociable creature. Her mood is rarely dampened. She's the kind of dragon to make friends with everyone. She's far from the most athletic or intelligent, but her compassion for others can drive her to great feats. She's a quick and eager learner. Her rider will have a friend forever.

Average flight speed: 85 mph.
Average height: 15 ft.
Average weight: 3,000 lbs.
Average wingspan: 50 ft.
Color Variation: body is of a teal or blue-green color. Underbelly and back can vary from blues to lilac. Paw and wing webbing tend to correlate with this. Horns and claws of a light brown tone. Feathers are a much darker hue than the body base. Eyes have been found in every cool color from blue to purple. Pink is a rare genetic deviation.
