Description The theme of the fifth round was ballgowns, which is quite inspiring. But instead I have got this one .

And it was an absolute failure at everything!
To start with, Rococo is definitely not my favourite fashion period.
Secondly, although it has some nice designs, that one is definitely not the brightest example of it.

Ah, there were so wonderful dresses assigned to other people of the challenge! But unfortunately I have got one with nothing beautiful except for the colour.

So, well, not much inspiration for this one...
I simply recreated a part of the original design (drew it in Photoshop), added the fabric pattern and the frame.

Well, I am glad that you think so . I hope she is at least elegant, because Rococo is not my fav0ourite fashion period.

I like historical clothing and dresses too, fashion history is one of my current hobbies.

Although these ones (both the original assigned picture and my remqke) are not quite historically accurate .

𝓝𝓸𝓽𝒆 ℱ𝓻𝓸𝓢 𝓔𝓬𝓱𝓸 Well I don't know anything about the real history or accuracy but I sure like looking at old dresses and costumes!

I like looking at old costumes and dresses too, that is how I had become interested in fashion history. But first of all I want to know how everything, including fashions, was in real during a certain historical period, so I am mostly interested in learning more about real historical fashions. Besides, when you already know something about fashion history (even as little as I do), sometimes you cannot help laughing at some weird modern attempts at ''historical gown''. And costume period films - in the most of them the costumes are awfully inaccurate!..
So as I said, I like learning more about fashion history and definitely prefer genuine outfits from museums etc. to modern remakes.

About historical films, you know, actually it depends on the film itself. Good films tend to have the costume part on the proper level too .

Arrelline In reply to Yagellonica [2016-07-25 07:16:14 +0000 UTC]

Well, yes. I am sorry that it is not that visible though. I tried to get the effect of silk fabric with skily pattern, but I am afraid I do not know enough about shading for that... Perhaps another time I will manage to show your pattern better .

By the way, the beautiful colour of the dress is actually very pale sagebrush green like dA background.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yagellonica In reply to Arrelline [2016-07-25 10:32:37 +0000 UTC]

Yes, now that you mention it, it really is a very pale sage green colour. But it looks stunning anyway!
And don't worry about the pattern not showing too much. Sometimes patterns are not meant to show too much, they just "set the mood" for the fabric.Β Β

sorry you didn't like the dress this month, I think the dress is beautiful, think its simple but I'd been giving you some outrageous designs so I tried to reign it in, love the color, love the small ruffle detail, loveee the bodice.

Well, thank you . I am glad that you still think that it is nice. What I really like here is the colour !

As to inspiration, actually it leaves me quite seldom, only when I do not like what I have to deal with .

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DeeryDeerth In reply to Arrelline [2016-07-25 11:07:37 +0000 UTC]

You're very welcome! The colour here isn't exactly my preference though...I just like the lacy details. You sure are lucky to have inspiration with you most of the time, however... for it leaves me too often. I wonder what keeps your inspiration up? Because I'm sometimes really wondering if I'm doing something wrong and that's the reason why I don't have inspiration most of the time...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Arrelline In reply to DeeryDeerth [2016-07-26 06:04:08 +0000 UTC]

Well, everyone knows that tastes differ . To this colour is beautiful, although perhaps it would be nicer with another type of dress. Or probably I say it because I never managed to make myself like Rococo women's fashion. Plus it makes me think of Louis XVI and French Revolution, a finished epoch. For some reason, I never felt Rococo well, never was able to imagine the live during it, unlike other periods. And this pale 'dusty' colour adds to the feeling of "ghosts of the past'', that is why I chose a frame like this, from scrapbook set, something about memories too.

What about inspiration, I think it is because I constantly ''switch'' from one thing to another, I have like a million of different projects and ideas to think about and I believe it is what keeps me from getting bored.
Although the lack of moitivation is a problem. It mostly does not depend on me though.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DeeryDeerth In reply to Arrelline [2016-07-26 13:18:51 +0000 UTC]

That's true, and I understand. I remember how we talked about fashion eras and when you said that you didn't like Rococo much. This particular dress really feels pretty "dusty"... just like a "ghost of the past". That's what I thought, too, and maybe that's why I don't prefer this colour and shape, either. When I think of Rococo, I always think of pink or blue pastel colours, enormous wigs and lots and lots of feathers and flowers. Rococo is exaggerated, but I like some traits about it. Not all of the outfits, of course... obviously, I'd prefer one type of outfit over the other, and it all depends on shape, colour and details.

Well, in that sense, I also have an endless flow of inspiration... so I think I worded my aforementioned sentence wrong, I'm actually low on motivation. Since I am very inspired by either videogames or any other art I've seen... and I get ideas all the time! I have a large, majorly unfinished list of projects... but I never get around to doing them, because I often lack motivation. During school time, time is mostly an issue, but it seems that in early summer, I was so tired from school that I simply cannot make myself do any major projects either. I'm also very demanding of myself... this part is why I hate being a perfectionist. I must always give 110%, or else I feel it wouldn't be worth it. I know this kind of thinking is actually really damaging in the long run, so I've been considering taking up meditation and some minor workout to relax. So I would say I do have the inspiration based on my endless ideas... but I'm not able to execute them very often because I either lack the time or am too tired. I wonder how to get out of this deadly circle...

Well, tastes differ. I like some fashion trends of Rococo too, but definitely not the artificial and exaggerated late period with its enormous wigs, skirts and frills.

On the account of the lack of motivation, probably it is because you take more than you can bear at once, and try to get everything perfect. Just be more indulgent to yourself and do not worry too much . And keep in mind that if you really like some project, you will undoubtedly find the motivation and time to work on it .

DeeryDeerth In reply to Arrelline [2016-08-15 12:04:17 +0000 UTC]

I feel the same way about Rococo. As for lack of motivation... you are right... perfectionism, procrastination and taking on too much at once really are woes of mine. I'll try my best to follow your advice. Thanks for hearing me out. I appreciate it.
