Description Is 1.75 million polygons too much, would you think?

Stupid tentacles. By the time I get the animation I want done, I'll have gone mad. But the huge chunk of time it'll take to render it on my current hardware will give me plenty of time to recover!

great stuff, 3d studio? if you don't mind critiqueing, your materials could use some overhaul, especially if you're going to stick to procedurals. it would look better if either your spec or your shininess were higher, and you should use a darker secondary color for the map in your spec. levels/color channel. and, although I know you want to minimize render time, a simple falloff reflection map would do wonders.
