Description
*faceplants*And thus my semi-kind-of triumphant return to DA (and Adobe) after having my baby. I swear, I don't do anything in Adobe for a month and my brain begins to rot.
Total time: Too much.
The manes, tails, horn, butterfly and bird were painted, along with the sky beyond the mountains. Every bit of this was touched in some way (and I do mean every last pixel), though it doesn't look like it for the most part. Which, I suppose, is the point of it in the end, huh?
This picture was done for ~Wintermagie for capturing my 10,000th pageview. I know, I'm over 15k now, but.. but.. I was busy! Having a baby is hard work.
These two are from a story she's writing, based, from what I understood, around a palo pegasus and a black unicorn who are love-bound, but nothing that will ever truly work out in the end. The white butterfly and pink bird were requested to be in there as well; the butterfly is connected to the palomino, and the bird to the unicorn. The quote is hers too - all compliments to the beautiful words goes to her, of course!

Beautiful Everything blends together amazingly well, and it takes a lot of imagination to fit all those pictures together in such a way.

Aw, well thanks sweets. That means a lot to me - I tend to think I'm without imagination for the most part. Adobe is the only place where I ever have inspiration.

lol, well, I looked at those stock photos and was shocked at how you took a full waterfall and made it look so small, and the horse bending over like that looks just like it's flying once you put wings on it.
Great job on this once again

Aw, I'm really glad to hear that! I manip's their ears, and played a lot with the angle of the palominos head to get it to stretch out enough towards the black, along with highlighting and shadowing their features to draw the eye more. I'm really happy it paid off, if even just for you.
Thank you.

See, the pressure's on even more now for the goddess pic! And I'm still working on it.. but see, I have this perfectionism hangup, and I want to stab the stupid picture repeatedly and then eat it so I don't have to look at it again, but at the same time I keep getting drawn back....

Lol, that perfectionism thing can be your greatest blessing, or biggest bite in the ass.
I wish I had time to do some manips. I still have one in progress that I'm making for you, but I just haven't had any time to work on it with summer job applications, and school work and midterms. Hopefully I'll get some down time and get it finished to my satisfaction before Christmas, lol.

wow that is breathtaking. it HARDLY looks like a manip! it looks more like amazingly wonderful digital art! lol. the additions/alterations are just perfect. i think though the only thing i personally "don't like" [that isn't the right phrase really cause it isn't that i don't like it lol XD i love this <3] is that the closest wing had to cover up so much of the palomino's body! she/he looks BEAUTIFUL, but it is a shame most of its body is covered up . however i do absolutely love the position of the heads on both equine no wonder it took you and eternity to find them! haha.
not to mention the background(s) is just...stunning. absolutely flawless. the color is fantastic the scene is fantastic. this is amazing o.o
instant fav <3

Aww... You know, I really, really appreciate the time you took to not only look over the image, but to type out such a lovely, well thought out comment to go along with it. It means a lot to me, and shows a lot about your character.
The palomino I spent a lot of time on, but you wouldn't ever know it after I stuck the wings on. Every single leg I altered and manipulated in three seperate places, making them extend or curve more, depending on what I wanted the horse to be doing mid-air. I also angled the neck and head out more as well to make it stretch further; but the horse is so pretty even without any manipulations done to it. Haiku offers some great stock.
Again, thank you babes for the lovely comment.

aww! you are very very welcome lovely <3!
the picture was just so amazing. and like i said i couldn't stop staring at it! haha ^_^
but yeah the one leg i noticed was the front one [obviously it is the only one i have seen haha!] but yeah i went to the stock out of curiosity and i must say the way you moved things looks so natural! i meant to comment about that but i think i was running somewhere XD. but yeah i noticed that and was like holy crap it doesn't even look like it wasn't supposed to be that way!
i have always love your work, but i think this might just very well be your best!
as for the palomino, maybe just for us curious onlookers as well as you putting so much time into him/her you could post just the pally as a detail shot? unless the wings are merged on? if not you should! be like "see i really DID change the picture all around!" .

Well thank you very much once again! That's all very nice of you to say.
Moving the bodyparts around on horses is a lot of fun, just because you can create poses that are unique to what everyone else has. I'm usually just too lazy to do it.
And by request, here's a shot of the palo without wings, showing all four altered legs. I figured I might as well do closeups of the rest of the image as well.

and i know! that also helps in making that little "something different" from one manip to the next you know. like yeah she DID put some time into that instead of just slapping a horse in a background lol.
and YAY! [runs off to go see it]

I must say, my favorite thing about this picture is the wings on the pali. Lyk, homgz. The blending is amazing, the detail is amazing, and you really do need to share the talent! The backgrounds are blended beautifully, and I lovelovelovelove the horn on the unicorn.
Do you believe in love at first sight? Bahahaha!
Amazing work, Arris. <3

hehe, thank you sweets. The horn was one of my favorite parts; that and the unicorns tail. I've never drawn a traditional uni tail before, and that was the second horn I've ever done. Maybe I'll do an image pack of horns for stock.. *Scratches head*
Ah! Anyway, thanks much for the fantastic comment and the support. It means a bunch to me.

SUPER fun to do. I think that's what I'll work on today, though, if I get the time. I feel like doodling in Adobe but I don't have all the stocks set for your image request on NSHC... though I have a good idea of what I want the uni to look like.
I'm excited.

Bahaha! Yess. Sounds like a plan. I'm totally not going to complain ether way- ether I get a kick-ass picture, or I get kick-ass brushes to play with. It's a win-win situation!
Bahaha, for my reference, I used a gazelle body (or a springbok or an impala... or something), and they're hard to find! xD I'm too spoiled! Horses are easy to find. I'm so excited to see it! If you're ever stuck on anything, don't hesitate to give me a poke!
