My SilkWing character Beetle, who I've probably used the most in the World of Magic server. He's arrogant, angry, and self-righteous, but also a brave justice-seeker. And yes this is like, Beetle 4 now, since Drag0n posted three other references. This one is colored by SilentlySleeping (I'm not sure if they're on DA though), though the colors were technically made by me - she just did all of the work >
Beetle is a resident of Cicada Hive who was bullied and abused by HiveWings for most of his life. As a result, he's developed a bit of a prejudice against them, seeing them all as irredeemable monsters that the world would be better off without. When the HiveWings get a new queen, and one he finds lazy - Lacewing, he seeks help from the LeafWing queen, Milkweed, in attempt to persuade her into making radical changes to the Hives. However, what he doesn't understand is that most of what he wants is out of her hands, to an extent. Milkweed tries to tell him this time and time again, but he continually pushes away her advice, leading him to go rogue and begin fighting HiveWings on his own. Eventually Milkweed stops him and finally manages to convince him into doing something more lawful with his energy - trying out for the queen's guard. However, just as he is about to give it a shot, word gets out that Lacewing is dead.
If that sounds like an incomplete story arc, that's because it is. I don't see myself roleplaying more anytime soon, so Beetle might just stay this way for good. Or I might pick him up again in a different medium, like a full-on story rather than roleplay.
