Description
The Devourer, typically a small, scavenging creature about the size of a basketball, in times of war can reach up to 18 feet in height by gorging itself on the dead and wounded. The creature will continue to eat until it becomes so fat it can no longer move, at which point it will remain dormant until finally splitting open, releasing swarms of young, which promptly devour the corpse of their parent and begin growing themselves.
This Audubon image is actually half-done, when finished and photographed, will be posted.

cool idea. hey, maybe it 'sweats' off the added mosture from the intake of its 'meals' and finds a lowlying area near the end of its cycle, creating its own mini pond/bog in a ditch/trench to aide in movement/concealment for it last set of kills.
