...always an occasion!
I remember the first time I saw this - I was ecstatic. ...the formal elegance of that vase with the sheer whimsy of those floating shapes. ...then the botanical negative - so unexpected - offsets it amazingly.
...yes, there's perfume in the air, the wine is flowing, and the orchestra's in full swing.

I like this one because the colors are most pleasing to the eye. The is a seperation of shapes and colors. Seperation because there is a "wall" of black and a "wall" of white that brings the eye to focus on the shapes within and without. There are many freeform shapes and then there are the "defined" shapes such as the vase and the flowers (the one in the vase and the one on the left black 'wall").
The piece has some clean space so it is not overly busy but there are many objects for the eye to study.

Dancing and Dining
with the Missing parts,
what a cool thing to do,
Entertained by the Daffodils
first spring thing that grew.
The Daffodils own this restaurant. They made reservations for the Missing parts months ago, knowing that when the End of the Year 2000 Ballet was over the Missing parts would be famished. Daffodils care in the extreme for decor' and they always say it with a flourish as if it really had one of those little fancy marks after it...like daKOr'.
And you would certainly be hard pressed to find another restaurant with such lavish daKOr' because Daffodils travel the world to find handmade ceramic table legs to use for the pedestals under small round tables; and they have been seen scouring Chinese import shops for little salt shakers and finger bowls. Once when Torso4 was traveling on a cruise ship to France, they asked her to look for hand embroidered hankies and little crocheted scarves to use as centerpieces and napkins.
I really cannot get over how beautiful the Missing parts are tonight. The Ballet refreshed them, I do believe. Even the helium suited one is as reflective as if he had just stepped from the bath. There is a gorgeous blush on some, and the new spheres in all imagined sizes are wonderfully round, smooth and vibrant.
(FYI, Sometimes, I would like to lick these little morsels, but that is quite improper, would probably scare them to death, and how would I explain to Rick that one was missing as it melted deliciously down the back of my throat.)
One always enters the center of the Daffodils restaurant (in case there is someone who may want to see a famous celebrity while they eat there escargot) but tonight the whole place was seated with Missing parts, and it was a glorious display of color as each entered the black walled room festooned with all manner of botanical prints.
It seems that Rick had something to do with this part of the daKOr'. He has a penchant for these old time white lacy prints lately and has been pasting them on every flat surface that would sit still. To tell you the truth, I expect to see Missing parts dressed in them soon. Perhaps he will read this and suddenly think of it himself...The Daffodils are 'hep' to anything new and they allowed Rick to redecorate the whole room in them.
The dance floor was very crowded as they who had only witnessed the ballet wished to move with such grace. I don't think there are any Missing parts who do not move with magnificent grace. (Cirks are probably the least graceful of the missing parts. Some say that's because they relate to ceiling fans much too intimately.)
My story has gotten long, and I must end abruptly, so that I may give a toast on this night of all nights, the end of the year 2000.
(It seems this story is comment number 600 for jsenn at DeviantArt. Some things I am not observant about and I had never noticed that my comments were counted. Makes me wonder how many I have at Skinz.org where I have been doing this for 2 years. Having been made aware of this count just today, I wanted to give you, Rick, and your magnificent Missing parts the 600, and I toast you Sir, you and your fabulous Missing parts, and your fabulous art, and I hope that you will have the most wonderful, productive, fun year, that you have ever experienced, in the year 2001.)
