This is an amazing painting (and I don't fav that often, but this totally inspired me to fav) and I'm not sure if you even read your comments, but I wanted to ask about your thoughts on "whitewashing" beauty. Princess Mononoke is (presumably) Japanese, yet here she has deep-set eyes and her nose (and to some extent, overall face structure) looks distinctly european.Β
Is it because you wanted to make her beautiful and beautiful=european (a kind of post-colonialist, hollywood globalization ideal)?
I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Of course, I'm not knocking your artwork in any way as I am a huge fan. But I just wonder if these are conscious decisions that you make while drawing.Β

"Sketch".....it may be for you a sketch since you teach and exercise art, but for us, the unskilled audience, this "sketch" of yours is a godlike piece of art (At least to me).
