Description
February 1944: the Allies are meeting in Yalta, where they would discuss about post-war Europe. Many subjects would be treated, such as Germany's status after the war, the Polish question, the Baltic questions, the involvement of an African power in Europe and the creation of the United Nations.
During 4 days, many agreements were concluded, some would be reconsidered and some were finally rejected.
After 4 days of debate, Soviets and Malagasy gained more during this conference than British and Americans, since they participated very actively to offensives and fights against Germany. Here are the agreements concluded after the conference:
Free elections would occur in freed European States
Organization of the San Francisco Conference
Reorganization of the Allies' strategy in Asia and organization of a new conference for Asia in proposed places (Tokyo, Delhi or Kabul)
Destruction of Nazism and Fascism
Division of Germany in five occupation zones (United States, USSR, United Kingdom, France and Madagascar)
Displacement of Polish borders to the West, giving territories to USSR and being compensated with German territories, respecting the Curzon Line
Reorganization of the Polish government, composed of Lublin members and government-in-exile representatives
Guarantee of independence to Baltic States (after a secret negociation between Stalin and Malagasy Prime Minister Rakotomalala) under some conditions
USSR would have a sphere of influence in Eastern Europe, while Madagascar would have one in Southern Europe
But before the conference, the British, the Americans and the Soviets received a message from Malagasy embassies: the African Kingdom successfully tested an atomic bomb in Namib desert, thanks to Einstein's support
