crisis in nine major sonic styles. I re-used my classic + SA art because look at this. LOOK AT IT. i didnt need to do more. i wanted to do this because i was complaining to a friend about how weirdly out-of-style the SatAM/archie body types are for girls, so I felt this would be more entertaining (and fun for me) for a female character than a robot or a male character

top line are the western-origin ones, bottom row are JP-origin.

my favorite for actual style, outside of her actual design, is the OVA. I'm biased towards the JP ones in general tbh lol

but my favorite for how much i hate myself for drawing it is the nadir-of-Archie. I call it "penders style" but it's not just him as an artist, it's the entire aesthetic of the comic during his run as head writer. i had such a horribly good time piling on more shading-with-black and weird knobbly limbs. it's horrible. i love it.

"why didn't you do..."

-Fleetway or IDW: I didn't want to, and this was more about "design" than "style". IDW's current design aesthetic is close to the current fandom standard, and I don't have any memories of Fleetway's design ethos. I did archie because i distinctly remember it, lol

-Battle: Battle is more of an art style than design ethos, and blah blah see previous answer. I did riders because it's a "distinct aesthetic and different outfit" sort of deal.

-Sonic X: it's basically just neutered SA style.

I swear there was a meme for this ages ago but I couldn't find it sorry lol.

i do challenge people to try this for their own sonic OCs, it's a lot of fun trying to emulate both the visual and design styles of the various cartoons and design eras lol !
