Description
That night, I snuck out of my cottage, moving carefully so as not to wake up Sonic. I carried two bags with me. I headed back towards my castle. It was dead silent out here. The only thing that made noise were my footsteps in the leaves, and an Erie Bird from the trees. When I entered my castle, it was creepily quiet in here. I could definitely feel the remnants of what happened to my family here. I shook my head and went upstairs to my room. The diamonds were all still there. I started shoving handfuls of diamonds into my bags, when suddenly I heard a loud bang from outside my room. I ignited my hands. A silhouette appeared on the corridor walls.“Stop! There!” I cried, but the silhouette entered the room. What entered the room was a huge armored robot, heavily armed. I knew it had to be a part of Namii’s team. I instantly started throwing flames at it. It did very little damage, as the robot approached me and swung its giant sword at me, but missed. I noticed a weak spot in the center, and charged up for a huge fire burst, all the while dodging the robot’s moves. Most of them, at least. I received a few wounds from dodging and being knocked around, but it wasn’t anything severe. Was Namii inside there? No, she was a sexy villainess. Of course she would have wanted to show that slutty body of hers, instead of being in this huge robot. When the fire burst was all charged up, I hurled it at the center of the robot. It staggered backwards, and then fell over. I grabbed its huge sword and cut right through the robot with difficulty, as it was a heavy sword. The robot became a pile of rubble on the floor. I turned my back on it and continued stuffing the diamonds in the bags. Just when ANOTHER intruder landed on the window sill in my room. I got up and ignited my hands. In the firelight, I saw Namii’s curvy silhouette. This time she was decently armored, but the armor was tight and showed every single curve in a detailed manner.
“Namii! You are not getting these diamonds!” I barked.
“Save it, I am barely interested in these diamonds, now that I have the Sol Emeralds! What I came here for, was that guy,” Namii pointed towards the robot I destroyed.
“Well, you’re too late! I already got rid of him!” I seethed.
“Did you now? That’s a shame. Using the Sol Emeralds, I was able to tell that he was coming back. I watched him enter this castle. I knew he wanted to get the diamonds for himself,” Namii approached the fallen robot. “But not again. I can’t believe you lived through all that, King Geralth,” Namii told the fallen robot. My heart immediately did a big, heavy lurch.
“What?” I asked in disbelief, getting up and approaching the robot too., Parts of the robot’s face came apart, and there, in the cockpit, sat my father. A big, buff, violet colored cat with bright blue eyes. He was definitely old and wrinkly; he had bald patches on his head. He did, however, have a bright gray bushy mustache on his muzzle. “F-Father?” I asked. “You...were alive?” I asked, still not believing what I was seeing. The tom cat turned to look at me, and his blazing blue eyes rested on me. When we made eye contact, my heart did a wild flutter.
“Princess…” my dad choked.
“You DIED! How-” I began.
“He is the Fire King, he had the Sol Emeralds. Do you really think he just let himself be killed?!” Namii spat.
“YOU KNEW HE WAS ALIVE!?” I roared.
“No. Not until I saw his image in the Sol Emeralds,” Namii growled.
“I was….in….hiding. I was severely wounded….but I knew that...once the Sol Emeralds were passed onto you, my kin, I would...be okay…” my father choked, looking at me, a dying light in his eyes.
“What are you talking about!?” I asked.
“I...knew you would be safe with the Sol Emeralds….they would’ve protected you from the Ice Warriors...I did not want to be around you and endanger you more… They were after my family…” my father responded.
“NO! YOU BASTARD! YOU HOGGED THE WEALTH TO YOURSELF! YOU LET OTHER KINGDOMS STARVE, INCLUDING MINE!” Namii was in tears.
“No...my child...your kingdom did not suffer from poverty...it suffered from famine…..crops were dying out in all the lands...no amount of diamonds would be able to fix that…” my father coughed. He looked at me. “My daughter, Princess of the Flames...keep the Sol Emeralds….and this kingdom safe….the diamonds are not important. Protect the Sol Emeralds. They are what helped…..they helped the crops...I was still responsible for….the deaths...because the Sol Emeralds...had a power I did not realize….until it was too late. The Sol Emeralds SAVED our kingdoms….now you must protect them, with every fiber of your being…” my father told me. The dying light in his eyes grew dimmer.
“WAIT! FATHER!” I begged, grabbing onto his body. But I saw all the damage in the robot, and saw that when I had used the sword on it, it had managed to slice through his body. Thick, almost-black blood stained his silk outfit. “FATHER!” tears fell down my face like rain when I realized I had done this to him. I was too distracted to notice that Namii had fled.
“It’s okay, my child….you were protecting this castle...you did what you needed...when I am gone...you will be safer…” my father brushed a strand of hair off my face. I reached into my bag and quickly pulled out the same healing herb, and placed it on my father’s wounds, but he grabbed my hands and held them. “It’s too late….I was never a greedy man, except for my family. I did not want to tell everybody about the famine...because I did not want to scare them. They all thought it was about the diamonds. When other kingdoms declared war on me because of the diamonds, I knew instantly my family were in danger. I brought the Sol Emeralds out of hiding, but...I could not handle their energy...they had gotten stronger over the years, and my body was not strong enough anymore.. They lost control, and killed many people….I was stabbed by Namii...but survived. I fled the kingdom, knowing I had betrayed it, I could not show my face around here again. I was a deadbeat king. I left the diamonds for you, and the Sol Emeralds. All the kingdoms thought I was keeping the diamonds to myself. Truth was, diamonds would not do anything in these hard times. I could give all of it to the hard workers, but it would not save the crops. The climate suffered greatly. We could not water the crops with diamonds. But I suppose that was a mistake, and while I tried to help you...I ended up hindering you. And for that, I am sorry. You did what you could, Blaze. I...love you,” my father said. And the light in his eyes finally flickered out. The blood continued to trickle out of his wound, despite my attempts to hold on to it. I held onto my father’s hand and sobbed heavily. My father had been alive this whole time, but...I killed him. ME. Yet, despite this, his words had given me comfort. I dug out the rest of the healing herbs and covered his torso with it, hiding the blood and wounds.
I buried my father in the old courtyard of my castle, underneath a tall elm tree. I sat there until the sun came up, not really wanting to leave. So my father had not been greedy after all. He may have made a lot of mistakes in protecting the kingdoms, but he was supposed to be in charge of only his own kingdom. And I felt that trying to help other kingdoms apart from his own was actually the most selfless act ever. But because of a misunderstanding, other kingdoms thought he was keeping the wealth to himself and letting other kingdoms starve. When in reality he was trying to help them, but only the power of the Sol Emeralds could do that. But it still did not really answer the question about the Ice Warriors. My father could not have hired them, then. So maybe they were all just a protesting clan made up by Namii and her men. I stuck a tulip on my father’s grave and got up. “I will protect the Sol Emeralds, with everything I have!” I told the sky, as if my father could hear me. “You will not be disappointed!” a gentle breeze rustled through my fur, as if it were my father’s response. The wind shook the tulip on his grave, and a few petals flew away and danced along the current.
When I returned to my cottage, I was shaken up. But Sonic was still sleeping. I sat down on the couch and just stared at the wall for what felt like hours, until Sonic joined me. “What’s wrong?” he asked worriedly. I told him what just occurred, and he listened in intently. Afterwards, he hugged me and held onto me tightly. I knew he did not intend on letting go anytime soon. His hug was comforting and relaxing. “You did not mean to kill your father,” Sonic reassured me softly, brushing the hair off my face just like my father had.
“I know, but...he had been doing great, until now,” I pointed out disconsolately.
“Did not sound like he was doing great. He had been STABBED by Namii, and forced himself to leave. I am fairly certain his wound would have gotten infected and all that, but he left to protect you, and his kingdom. He was targeted by other greedy people. Yeah, maybe he should have told them all about the famine, but those are not in his jurisdiction, right? They are different kingdoms, ruled by different kings. Your father tried all he could, and as far as I could tell, he died protecting you. He probably found out that the Ice Warriors was out of hiding, and came to make sure you were okay,” Sonic rubbed my back softly. “He made a lot of mistakes, certainly, but he was doing all he could to protect you. I think that’s saying a lot.”
“But...why...did I kill him?” I asked, tears lining my eyes, but Sonic just brushed them away.
“It’s like he said, you were just trying to protect the castle,” he told me. I stood up.
“I need to get those Sol Emeralds back! SOON!” I cried loudly.
“That’s the spirit!” Sonic smiled, standing up, too. He wrapped his arms around me again and pressed his lips against mine. Despite the salty tear residue, he still kissed my soft lips. At that moment, the door opened, and in rushed Marine and Tails, both armed with the swords Marine made. They were also wearing thick armor, designed and tested by Tails. Marine handed us our respective armor.
“Let’s kick some tigress ass!” Marine cried. I managed to smile when I saw this, knowing that what we planned to do would fulfill my promise to my father, and the kingdom.
“YES! For my father!” I cried, raising the sword Marine had given me. .
“For King Geralth!” Marine roared, raising her sword to hit mine.
“For King Geralth!” Sonic and Tails raised their swords too, and instead of toasting glasses, we toasted swords.
The armor was not the most comfortable thing ever, and it was pretty hot in there. But it was pretty solid material, the ivory swords barely made a scratch, and they’re able to break rock.
“You look like Lady Percival,” Sonic told me with a smile.
“What?” I asked.
“Nothing, nevermind. Essentially what I am saying is you look sexy, yet tough,” Sonic winked. I raised my eyebrow in confusion. We were headed back to Marine’s hut, and when we got there, the whole Coconut Crew was surrounding a decent sized plane. I swallowed a thick knot in my throat, knowing that my fear of heights was just going to have to be put aside for right now. “Sweet! Looks just like the Tornado!” Sonic remarked.
“I built it with that design in mind! Only it will be able to seat all of us. The Coconut Crew helped a great deal! Thanks guys!” Tails told the little koalas, who were running off to let us through.
“No probs!” Tabby responded. We all boarded the plane, and at that instant, Tails started the engine.
“She starts perfectly and smoothly!” Marine cried, impressed.
“Wait until I get it in the air!” Tails responded.
“IT!? You have a problem with makin’ yer things female!?” Marine demanded half-teasingly.
“NO! No, not at all!” Tails replied nervously. He started rolling down the coast line to pick up speed, and in no time, we were lifting in the air. I felt a pit land in my stomach as I saw the ground below, but ignored it. Suddenly, we were swerving heavily to the left. The plane was almost completely vertical.
“WHAT IN THE BLOODY ‘ELL ARE YE DOIN’!” Marine shrieked.
“Sorry! The Tornado is heavier, I am not used to such a light control!” Tails cried.
“DID YE EVEN TEST FLY THIS THING!” Marine bellowed.
“.....Once!” Tails responded. Sonic facepalmed. This made the acrophobia I was trying to ignore leak in. I grabbed Sonic’s hand and squeezed it tightly. He caressed my hand softly, and it helped my nerves a bit. We flew over the ocean for about half an hour, until we saw an island in the distance. “Hmm! Is that one of the Southern Islands?!” Tails asked.
“No! This is the Faraway Island! You can’t normally get here with any watercraft, because it be too far and rocky!” Marine cried. “I heard Faraway Island has some dangerous terrain, mates! Be careful!” As we closed in on Faraway Island, we saw what Marine was talking about. 90% of the island was steep, jagged rocks. The 10% was little lava pools formed from the volcano. Over the steaming volcano was the Ice Warrior’s giant vessel.
“Man! What a place to park your aircraft!” Sonic remarked, noticing where it was hovering.
“They be using the heavy metals produced by the volcano!” Marine explained.
“When paired with the Sol Emeralds, that can be devastating...not even Nega attempted to harvest the heavy metals. They lie deep inside the volcano,” I added.
“Nothing can survive the heat of that lava, mates! We are talking at least 100,000 degrees Celsius mates!” Marine cried.
“OW! That’s hotter than lightning in our dimension!” Tails cried.
“How hot is that?” Sonic inquired.
“30,000 degrees Celsius, hotter than the surface of the sun,” Tails replied.
“How how is the core of the Sun?” Sonic asked.
“15,000,000 degrees Celsius,” Tails replied.
“PSH! Blaze is WAY hotter than all of THAT!” Sonic joked. Marine and Tails laughed, but I just blushed. Our friendly banter was short lived, as we approached the island quickly.
“Where should I land?” Tails asked.
“Well, on the vessel somewhere. Treat it as the Egg Carrier,” Sonic responded. Tails pulled up, and we were headed for the vessel. He began to fly around the outside, searching for a safe area to land. When we flew over the volcano, we all looked down into the mouth of the volcano. There was stairs and ladders headed down, no doubt so the Ice Warriors mine the heavy metals from there.. The lava inside was bubbling heavily, and its appearance reminded me of simmering chili. When Tails flew in the smoke, we caught a heavy odor of sulfurs and charred rock. Just flying in the smoke made us all start to sweat heavily. The smoke itself had to be AT LEAST forty degrees, forty-five at the most. “Man! You would wonder why ICE Warriors chose THIS as their hideout!” Sonic remarked, fanning himself.
Tails found a short balcony towards the bottom of the ship to land on. When he pulled in and landed, we were instantly greeted by the welcoming committee; a gang of robots were reaching for us. Sonic yawned and managed to take them down with simple Homing Attacks. “Why is it that all villains choose robots as henchmen? Is it something they teach in Villainry 101?” Sonic wondered aloud.
“Robots can withstand more damage than flesh,” Tails replied.
“Not Eggman’s robots! Those things break apart when you BREATHE on them!” Sonic insisted cockily.
“So are we going to slay everyone on this entire ship in a bloody war, or are we just going to get the Sol Emeralds back?” Marine wanted to know.
“Get the Sol Emeralds, and who or whatever stands in our way, don’t hesitate,” I pulled out my sword, and actually used my pyrokinesis to ignite its blade into flames.
“Got it,” Marine pulled out her sword as well, and the boys followed.
“Ready to do this?” I asked.
“Infiltrating a flying ship? I’ve done that so many times, it’s almost a breeze in the park!” Sonic remarked.
“This ain’t the Egg Carrier, Sonic! It’ll probably be much more dangerous!” Tails reminded him.
“No problem. It’ll be a heavy wind in the park then. And when I run, I generate more than a heavy wind!” Sonic leered. I rolled my eyes, but Marine was getting stoked from his confidence.
“ALRIGHT! Let’s breeze through this!” Marine cried.
“Let’s run like the wind and get those Emeralds back!” Sonic agreed.
“Maybe we can get wind of what they are really planning?” Marine asked.
“Knowing them, they will probably sail close to the wind!” Sonic rolled his eyes.
“I don’t know, they could be just pissing in the wind!” Marine said. I shook my head and facepalmed at all this.
“Uh oh, I think we need to WIND down!” Sonic chuckled.
“No. Not the same,” Marine said.
“Awh!” Sonic said.
“You guys knock it off, or I will knock the wind out of you!” I warned. Sonic began to chuckle, but I rolled my eyes. After joking around, we entered the door the robots came through, and in no time we were inside the vessel. And the second we stepped inside, the fight for the Sol Emeralds begun.
