After recently discovering Omi Viewer’s YouTube channel: m.youtube.com/channel/UCi6tr05… , (link to his deviantart account: www.deviantart.com/snazzychape… SnazzyChapeau ). In which he; and another YouTuber, covered the subject of “Why there hasn’t been more Kaiju in Anime?”: m.youtube.com/watch?v=aZXtn-sF… (OmiViewer’s), m.youtube.com/watch?v=TMHQvvrX… (TitanGoji) to which he (Omni) explains that it is most likely (or is) because of the lack of control one has on a living breathing (city destroying) animal, and prefer going with mechs as the protagonists have more control to appeal to their target demographic of young boys. Often, Kaiju are portrayed as single-minded creatures that lack character or act as fodder for the heroes to annihilate on in spades. If what I recall what he said is correct.

It is indeed interesting to note that there isn’t a whole lot of kaiju-related anime’s out there, mechs for sure, but not much on the giant monsters. You’d think that Godzilla and other anime shows such as Sailor Moon being the most recognizable (and marketable) icons of Japanese culture that someone would’ve though to bring the two ideas together sooner in some shape or form. Heck, not even a whole lot of fanart out there of this idea that mixes the two (let me know if there is, cause I haven’t found any). I mean, why NOT combine them into one? I’m sure there’s potential in that can of worms somewhere.

If I’m being totally honest though, I only know a like a mere sentence worth of knowledge on what that Sailor Moon (and other animes in that genre) are about, most of which I picked up from my class mates in during college or via exposure through internet culture.

Me, being the kaiju/godzilla enthusiast I am, (more so than anime in all honesty, but I like and know some of it) made it my goal to take advantage of the untapped market of kaiju-related anime (or manga) that mixes elements of Godzilla and Sailor Moon. Especially since most other/western animation and medias take heavy influence from anime (Steven Universe, Star Vs. Forces, Miraculous Ladybug, Avatar: The Last Airbender, that new She-Ra series, etc.) and most of us go crazy for epic monster fights.

The closest comparison in that can I think of that doesn’t simply make reference to kaiju but has it as the main focus (something other than Godzilla and other franchises) that has this concept is Pacific Rim, but even then it’s kinda stretching it or really count.

So anyways, I’ve been hatching up a story idea for such a show, comic, whatever that I hope to produce if I have the time to focus on it and no get sidetracked w/ a new idea (which happens a lot).

The basic story is that an evil arrives on earth hellbent on destroying everything (as most villains do) and unleashes his horde of monsters, both big and small, onto the world (or just in Japan, cause this always seems to only happen there). Now, the earth chooses a group of friends to be the new guardians of earth (I might use that as the title if it’s not taken) and have their very own monster, created eons ago by the ancient civilization of Atlantis, to combat the onslew of monsters. This monster, much like Godzilla, is a powerful force of nature and human ingenuity... but sorta does his own thing and prefers being alone. He has a psychic link w/ one of the characters and both often share memories, communicate, etc. w/ eachother or something. Oh, and the other two characters there are reporters - their purpose in the story is to act as comic foils of the main cast of characters.

There is lots of heavy influence from the Heisei era of Godzilla films, along with the MonsterVerse and what I know of the limited anime

Well, anyways. That’s all I got so far. Sorry if any of theses sentences are redundant or I misspelled anything. Let me know if I did in the comments, I’ll be sure to fix it as soo as I’m notified.
