Khol surrogates a lot, but he does have a mate, Tiya, and they do have their own little family. Tiya is very motherly, and never minds helping Khol with their own kids, or the kids from his surrogacies. The community of seahorse merfolk these two belong to are very much of the "it takes a village to raise a child" mindset! Which they love, because it's just like having a large extended family.
