Earth X was just a fun comic about an alternate future for the Marvel Universe. Because of a trick by Loki Thor was transformed into a woman. This was well before Jane Foster every picked up the hammer so it was a pretty cool concept. Alex Ross did a lot of art for this series and I recently got an art book showing some sketches he had done for female Thor and got super inspired.
