When I was a child (in the 1960's), I was exposed to a lot of different comic books...especially various Marvel and Archie titles. I remember seeing many images of Archie Andrews with both - Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge, and I also started noticing a lot of images of Peter Parker (aka Spider-Man) with both - Gwen Stacy, and Maryjane Watson...It was at that time that I figured that all (comic book) male characters were allowed to have 2 girlfriends at the same time...sort of a threesome.
