This was done for , and it features Maura, a moray eel character from the animated movie "Deep".
I've had a blast painting this piece! I love painting underwater/ocean scenes, it's something very different and unique that I rarely get to do.
The commissioner wanted a bright, daylight scene reminiscent of the colorful backgrounds from "The Little Mermaid". I hope I conveyed the idea well!

It's not often than you do underwater scenes, but this one is magnificent! The colors of the coral reef are so bright and iridescent, and Maura looks lovely. Moray eels are portrayed negatively so often, it's a pleasant surprise to see one as a hero.

You should definetly do more underwater scenes! I got some heavy Disney-nostalgia from Finding Nemo/Dort here - all those vibrant colours, and that beautiful eel!
