Concept art for a buried demon worshiper for a game commissioned by WitheringHound .

The concept:
Centuries ago a volcano erupted, engulfing a nearby town in lava. The denizens of the town escaped into a cave that lead underground. These people saw the eruption as a sign of the apocalypse, assuming the entire surface world was destroyed and not just their town. They dug deeper underground until one day they stumbled upon a mysterious underground shrine. A portal opened up, and from the portal came forth demons, whom these people worshipped as gods. The demons offered their blood and flesh to these buried people, but demanded sacrifices in return.

Pencil on normal printer paper. The face was largely inspired by that Russian Sleep Experiment photo, and his hands by a recent viewing of the 1956 film The Mole People. Also, that's my watermark/logo/signature in the bottom left their, in case anyone's confused.
