Captain Deadbeard was notorious for mistreating his sailors extremely cruel.
The secret of his incomprehensibly inhumane acts was revealed decades later.
The combination of pagan sorcery, labor under scorching sun, lashing, and salt rubbing in the wound has created magical circumstance.

The spirits of the sailors got stuck at the hull, making the ship moves even under the calm winds or over the land.

Deadbeard didn't stop plundering inland towns and villages, thanks to his ship and his previous sailors,
until the day he died choked by a cork while drinking.
