Character Development Challenge
You smirk, catapulting the beast through the air at breakneck speed with a swift strike from your hind legs. It looks awesome! Boy has that training has paid off, your back legs are definitely a lot stronger than last time... It’s a shame that the only real place to train at the moment is outside. But then Beatrix is probably just scared that your awesome kicking skills will break a window or something. Who are you kidding? Beatrix is an awesome warrior! She’s not scared of anything! Thinking of broken stuff… where did that training dummy… uh… deadly and very fierce monster go?
You turn to look at where the beast was standing and are greeted with a quite irritating sight. The dumb thing had ripped free of the base and could have flown anywhere. It could be on the other side of the world by now! “Flown away like a coward!” you tell yourself as you pick up the now monsterless pole, trot to the nearest bush and drop it. The useless chunk of wood should be safe here until you find the rest of it.
You sigh a bit before walking back over to where the monster was last seen. Luckily for you there’s a trail of stuffing! Wait… blood! A trail of icky, sticky, totally-not-fluffy monster blood! Using your perfectly accurate monster hunting skills you follow the trail until you reach… a dead end? Well that isn't right. Either it ran out of blood or it’s… oh no. You look up to see the tattered remains of the monster dangling over the edge of a roof before exclaiming a quick “Tree damn it!” and starting to pace.
Though you’d hate to admit it, it did make sense that you’d be able to kick it that far. After all, the older practice dummies were notoriously pretty fragile once ripped a little and it was a bit windy out today. It wouldn't surprise you if there was already a tear in it… but no. You refuse! It was your awesomely strong legs that killed the monster! Yup, definitely your awesomely strong legs. You assure yourself of this ‘fact’ as you begin to think of ways to get the dumb thing down from there.
It takes a while before you think of something. You could throw a rock up there and knock it down! But you’d need rocks to do that so you spend the next few minutes gathering all the pebbles and stones that you can find. As annoying as she is, Kaboodle sure is good at gathering stones, even if some of them are laughably small and useless.
Regardless, this would be great target practice for hitting evil monsters in the eyes with stones you think to yourself as you begin hurling the hard balls of pain towards the beast. You miss… a lot… but you don’t really pay attention to that. The real monsters are huge anyway and it’s better to hit it one thousand times and miss your target than hit it once in the right spot anyway. Or at least that’s what you believe.
A sudden noise breaks you from your thoughts - a loud crash. You've managed to get the sheet back but it appears that you've actually broken a window or something. Did you jinx yourself earlier? You don’t stop for long enough to find out as the adrenaline kicks in, you bolt back towards the bush and dive inside it. Hiding inside it with both pieces of the training dummy seems like a very good idea right about now. It might be best to lay low for a while.
