Starflight: actually, according to the Pythagorean Theorem, it should be a^2+b^2=c^2 where c is the length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle and a and b are the legs. If we inserted a and b into your equation as intergers, we should be able to find that c=a+b by the commutative property. However, this is not the case, because if you use a=3 and b=4, it would end up with 9+16=25. According to you, (a+b)^2=a^2+b^2, which would mean 9+16
