Whelp, not sure where Chrysalis came from, I was making some other characters and suddenly things changed.Made the main focus a bit different this time around, and playing around with some alternative looks for some parts which was interesting to do.
Her colours are slightly tricky, but maybe that was also because my previous one was Celestia who had quite the opposite colours going on haha. So I tried to not make Chrysalis too dark, but also not too bright...
Then I didn't know what to do with the hair either lol. It was quite an adventure.
It's fun being able to do the same, but still have plenty of differences, whether it's texture, colour, details, design, etc.
PS: All progress was made on a single layer

First of all i really LOVE this artwork,
you did such a good job at shading and such, and i love how the background is,
i love the way you made her hair, and how it shines!
and i like how you made her so realistic looking, and horn and face look var 3 dimensional but heres something i would fix up a little,
the left wing, (right in our view) because i don't know where its coming from,
the right wing (left in our view) is fine where it is
but anyway, i love this artwork, i love how you made her look sort of like a dragon, (her neck/chest skins)
and the eyes, are stunning and so realistic.

I love the design and her eyes are very dashing as well and also admire the way that you made her teeth and her hair really glows it is beautiful and I absolutely love the background as well as the way her eyelashes were done I also love how her ears have holes in them just like Friendship is magic it is absolutely beautiful and I love the way her horn is another detail from the show as well it is amazing and you really captured her color in this one I would definitely love to see more Its beautiful

Hello AssassinMonkey! I'm Ravenhoof and this is my first critique. I really am impressed with this piece, and how it took only six hours to make. I like everything in this picture, but I will only talk about what stands out the most to me. What I think was really well done was the gradation of the colours in the mane. The greens and blues blend harmoniously together. I also like the attention you gave to the details in the skin, making it appear like armour, and the hooks and holes blend very well. The way the horn was made to look like it had layering was a very nice touch. The last thing that stands out to me the most is the detailing of the eyes. The way the greens blend together and the reflection of the light is marvellous. The slightly sinister look in Chrysalis' eyes definitely will put someone on edge. I like that alot.

The depth is what gets me. Clear enough and just the right angle... ~ 7hours... i could have sworn the first 5 went to her eyes... 1more for the great mane and a bit for the rest

Critique:
Something catches my eye - both Celestia and Chrysalis have realistic hair absolutely smooth, like shiny smooth plastic, without any hint about hairs anisotropic surface (even no simplistic cartoon/comics/schematic anisotropy, like Facet of the Gem or Equus Terrae )
Almost everything except highlights and eye iris and skin texture is blurry, out of focus (crown, for example seems to be too out of focus compared to ears).
Backward part of hair/mane seems to be too simple, need a little-little-little bit of detail level higher, to be consistent with how face is detailed
Background is very simple, and give no expression where she is - forest or caves or night mountains.
Also it is very evident, that background brush strokes where drown over existing foreground character hairs (or just repeat contour of mane)
