Having a good tablet really helps. If you watch the videos of this drawing, you will see that I really have no clue what I am doing lol.

Yeah that's what happens to me too.. and usually I have so many edits from my reference photo that I can't even use that to figure out shades and highlights.

That's awful! I don't use reference picture for my whole drawing, I'll use them for the pose, but I go on my own for the coloring....which confuses the heck out of me! XD

I dont know why but it reminds me of one of the four animal gods in the Wii Game called Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess; its the first god you meet, an Ordan goat- has a light ball just like this guy^^
