Description A quick, 50 minute (as opposed to 50 hours like I normally take) sketch, on black paper of the last Apollo launch. Apollo 17 launched at night at 5:33am UTC on 7th of December 1972. This is a drawing of the Saturn V on pad 39A.
It was to take Eugene Cernan (Commander), Harrison Schmitt (Lunar Module pilot and first scientist astronaut) and, Ronald Evans (Command Module Pilot) on the last Apollo mission to the Moon. Ronald Evans stayed in lunar orbit in the Command Module (nicknamed America) whilst Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt (professional geologist) ventured the lunar surface for the final time (Lunar Module nicknamed Challenger). Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt spent a total of 22 hours, 3 minutes and 57 seconds over three lunar excursions and brought back lunar samples weighing 115kg.
