Description
Ichthyops are a common sight among shorelines and small islands. They prey mostly on fish, molluscs and crustaceans but will not pass the opportunity to scavenge on the cadavers of larger animals. All ichthyops have frills around their mouths, but they are used differently between the two sexes. Females use their frills for territorial disputes while males mostly use them for mating displays. Both males and females will also use them for scaring off predators.
They live in large colonies and build their nests in crevices along cliff sides, and although they live together in such large numbers they are not particularly social and tend to fight over territory and mates instead of cooperating.
