I was working on some comp art when I decided to take a break and sketch out a few ideas for a species
And this is what I came up with ^^

These don't have a name yet, but they are rodent-like creatures that live in burrows underground
They are civilized and have they're own language, use tools, farm, invent, have a religion, and so much more
They worship their most ancient ancestors, the Sun and the Moon, who bring them life and day, and night and death

Anatomy-wise, they have a mask-like face for communicating (through sounds, talking, and facial expressions) that lifts to show a separate mouth for eating
Their big ears are also for communicating and hearing danger or warnings
They have large claws good for digging their homes and small but strong back legs for running
They can switch between walking on all fours or only their back legs

I was thinking of adding broad traits and rarities, like long tail is rare, but could look like any long rodent tail. Or maybe there could be differences between males, females, and nonbinary. Maybe they could reproduce parthenogenentically. These are still a work in progress, so please suggest ideas 💛
