The Nobodies video comparison has been coming up a lot, so I'd like to clear that out - yes, the drawing is inspired by it. It's one of my favorite videos.
As for the movie Pan's Labyrinth - I totally love it and although I wasn't inspired by it exactly, I can take comparisons only as a compliment

Yes! Such a fascinating person too. Are you a Roman Dirge fan? His work is very much influenced by Gorey.

Well, nope, not really
I found out about Dirge through the work of Jhonen Vasquez (of whom I'm a very big fan) and I read some of his Lenore comics, but wasn't really impressed. I think he's trying too hard to be Vasquez, but then again that's just my personal opinion
