Description
These are sketches I did of the classic superhero character Mr. Justice. The character profile from the MLJ Golden-Age encyclopedia ([link] ):"Mister Justice: 1940, Blue Ribbon Mystery Comics #9. In 1040 Scots rebels kill Prince James, the heir to the English throne. However, his spirit does not move on but instead kills his assassins and is somehow trapped in the castle. Nine hundred years later, the castle is taken apart and shipped to the US. A U-boat sinks the ship carrying the castle and frees James' ghost. In the U.S. the ghost becomes Mr. Justice to stop others from being killed the way he was. As a ghost his powers are almost limitless. In addition to being the blue clad hero, he takes on a civilian id also called Mr. Justice."
This hero arrived after superman in the 1940's. He is the old school mode of the square chin hero with over confidence and two fisted justice as he flies in too battle smiling smugly. A character that is lots of fun and could be modernized easily by the right creative team, if they could keep the fun energy of the original.
I took his original character design and made his cowl more like a knights hood, keeping the blue and white color scheme.
Since the character is in the public domain, you can read the on-line adventures here ([link] ), the character himself is © Archie Comics.
Make sure to check out the finished piece in my Deviations.
