I hope you like them, those are the only real art-markers I know of. I recently got a bunch of prisma's but none that are really light enough to do anything with T_T
Thanks, I'm a little embarrassed about it really, I coined it while trying to remember a yu-gi-oh monster's name shhh don't tell anyone. I don't even watch the show anymore.

My boyfriend is the one who gets them for me I have the double ended ones like with the wedge nib and the brush end. I need to get some sketch ones though. I dunno, they're kinda hard to use. I'm so used to using my prismacolor ones. First time I tried copic for some reason it just didn't turn out, I still need loads of practice, lol

Oh thank god I'm not the only one who keeps screwing up the corners with my furious erasing. xD
Great tutorial though. I have to try Copics sometime.
Though I still don't understand how you fill your art with so much awesome... .____.

May I ask something? Congrats on the DD btw for this picture, which are better?
Prismacolor markers or Copic Sketch Markers? I can't decide on which markers to buy.
thank you for this tutorial!

Atomic-Clover In reply to azngrrl [2008-08-06 00:58:33 +0000 UTC]

Personally, i think Copic Sketch Markers are easier to use. they're just too expensive for me to have more than two XD
But i love them both
and thank you so much for the kind words ^^

haha, I see. Thanks, they give such a nice color to pictures,
escpecially your pictures. I was looking around your gallery, very nice, keep it up ^^
Oh you're welcome. So, you just prefer Copic over Prismacolor?
Expensive but great, in my opinion.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Atomic-Clover In reply to azngrrl [2008-08-06 15:10:25 +0000 UTC]

well, idk, i've heard a lot of those hardcore marker users say that it's only possible to get good marker art with Copics- what the proffesionals use, so i can't help but feel a weird liking to my prismas, like i'm gonna prove to the world that copics arn't all there is to marker art D:<
my prismacolors are my babies.
so i really don't mind only having 2 copics and the rest prismas, i think prismas are more than capable of getting the job done ^^

azngrrl In reply to Atomic-Clover [2008-08-06 17:30:41 +0000 UTC]

Oh? haha, yes, true, I've seen more people with Copic markers. None of them work with prismacolor, but I think they're good too, in my opinion. You prove to them that your prismacolor babies are great markers!!
Your work proves it all. ^^

And and... Its nice to see I'm not the only one who can't seem to refill the copic markers without spilling all over. xD;; My E00 looks exactly like that.

Atomic-Clover In reply to Hara-ism [2008-08-06 15:12:53 +0000 UTC]

LOL XDD
he. . .eheheh.... you noticed that?
i have such problems refilling my copic markers, it's so sad XD i did get those needle-refiller thingers, but they got all clogged and useless. now i have no choice but get my ink all over my pants Β¬_Β¬

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hara-ism In reply to Atomic-Clover [2008-08-06 20:01:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. D8 Every store nearby that sells copics doesn't sell the needle... So I have to ask someone else to refill them for me. I spilled some R14 on the carpet and I spend days trying to rub it out with my Mother hovering angrily behind me. xD;;

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Atomic-Clover In reply to Hara-ism [2008-08-10 17:46:44 +0000 UTC]

lol xDD
yeah i bought the needle online when i bought my refils, it was a waste of money >.<
it just takes patience to refill those suckers without spilling everywhere, an element i do not have xD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hara-ism In reply to Atomic-Clover [2008-08-11 17:54:27 +0000 UTC]

Yeah~ Usually when I'm refilling them, its because I was in the middle of a picture and I realized it was low.... So I am rushing to fill it so I can continue. xD;;

And erasing ferociously? Yeah, unfortunately I know a lot about that. -_- FAIL. LOL.

What kind of markers would you recommend? The picture turned out so beautifully, and you mentioned not only copic, but prismacolor markers. I'd love to know what colors per brand you use!

*q* I've already favved the other picture, but I'll fave this one in case I suddenly take on markers. xD

it's very clear too!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Atomic-Clover In reply to daughtK [2008-08-06 15:18:19 +0000 UTC]

aw, thank you very much ^^
um, i love all markers, but since copics are so expensive, i only own two of them. so i make up for it by having well over 100 prismacolors, and so that's what i mainly use.
personally, i think Copics are easier to use, but i have been able to sorta master my prismas so it doesn't make a difference to me anymore.
so idk, if you wanna still have money, get prismas, if you dont mind spending boatloads of cash, get copics : D

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

daughtK In reply to Atomic-Clover [2008-08-09 02:39:20 +0000 UTC]

xD Okay. I'll work on the butload of cash. xD
And wow, you really HAVE mastered it! O: your art looks just as professional(if not more) than the copic-marker users! I really admire your skills! ;u;

ooooh good question, you are right XD
wheres a lot of my pictures are done on regular 8.5x11in printer paper, this one picture was done in my big sketch book made by Copic. it's paper is made specially for markers, it's thick, and smooth. i love it :]

Very nice tutorail. :3 I don't have Copics yet, but I think I'll use it when I do get the markers.

Kinda off topic, but I've tried the gel pen thing with my pencils, but it doesn't work as well. Do you have any pointers for that? xD I want to use it mainly because I like the way the pens look even over the pencil coloring.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Atomic-Clover In reply to Rhapsodey [2008-08-05 18:26:15 +0000 UTC]

it doesnt work, meaning the white doesnt come out? or it just doesn't look right?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rhapsodey In reply to Atomic-Clover [2008-08-05 18:34:56 +0000 UTC]

Well, it just doesn't show up. I was told that it was the way I used the pen/white out. They didn't give me any other pointers then that. Plus when it dries most of the time, it just looks...weird is the best way to put it. ._.

Atomic-Clover In reply to Rhapsodey [2008-08-06 15:21:35 +0000 UTC]

soryuu is right, that's what my guess would have been c:

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

soryuu In reply to Rhapsodey [2008-08-06 06:41:24 +0000 UTC]

My best guess (even though you didn't ask me) is that because pencil crayons are kind of waxy and tend to reject liquids and markers and inks. I believe the only way you would get a white is to put down some masking fluid or something or to just avoid that area completely and let the paper show through.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rhapsodey In reply to soryuu [2008-08-06 21:22:12 +0000 UTC]

Hey, advise is advise. I'm not complaing on where it came from. xD But that sounds reasonable enough. I normally do leave parts of characters or whatever background that are shiney white. I just wanted to see if there was any other way to stop the "blotchy-ness" or mess of the pen or white out.

Thank again! ^^

UndergroundRacer57 In reply to ??? [2008-08-05 18:16:00 +0000 UTC]

Niiiice. I like the idea of vertical strokes with the Copics; I'll have to try that on a scrap drawing sometime. When I use markers I color like I'm using colored pencils. It doesn't work out. xD Thanks to you I think I'm gonna try out the brown micron pen idea, with super-thin tips, or other colors. I don't like how my line-art is so.. obvious in my drawings; it irritates me.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Atomic-Clover In reply to UndergroundRacer57 [2008-08-06 15:23:08 +0000 UTC]

thick lineart can be cute tho
yeah, i love the micron pens, i have a blue one too that i barely ever use, i just thought i should have it XD
YAY! Im happy my tutorial could help ^^
