Subject can also will his Juggernaut armor into being around him (though it adds little to Cain's immense strength and invulnerability, it's merely a symbol of his power), protecting him from psychic attacks, which can harm him. The life of Cain Marko has been largely driven by the hardships in his life. He was the first and only child of an aspiring businessman, Kurt Marko. His father was a brilliant man who started from nothing and worked his way through Princeton, graduating near the top of his class. He started off poised for success, founding his own consulting company that helped inventors turn their work into marketable goods. The company got off to a rocky start but was profitable. Shortly after Cain was born, it took a turn for the worse.
When Cain was three years old, his father's company was hit by a series of lawsuits claiming that Kurt defrauded his clients out of royalties for their inventions. While it was never proven that Kurt Marko was guilty, the lawsuits as well as the decline in his business reputation sent his company to the verge of bankruptcy. The losses were so great that the Markos were kicked out of their home. At some point, later on, Cain's mother Marjorie Marko died from cancer. This left Cain isolated and his father in a difficult position with his wife gone.
For the next five years, Cain followed his father from one failed business venture after another. At times, they slept in dirty apartments and bus stations. Cain grew to share his father’s frustrations and became ill-tempered as a boy. He used his size and above-average strength to intimidate those who looked down on him. The struggles continued until his father caught up with an old college friend from Princeton University named Brian Xavier.
Brian Xavier was from a long tradition of wealth and added to that wealth through his scientific research. When Kurt Marko approached him, he promised to help make Xavier’s inventions profitable. Brian agreed to the partnership under the condition that his work would not be used to make weapons. The two friends agreed on the deal and within a few years, young Cain’s fortunes were completely reversed.
Wealth returned to the Marko family in abundance. Cain soon moved into an opulent house in Boston, Massachusetts, and enjoyed all the benefits of an upper-class lifestyle. Cain’s life was fairly comfortable during this time, but he remained an angry and headstrong individual. He frequently got into trouble at his boarding schools, which he was expelled from. His father usually paid little to no mind to his son's activities as he was primarily focused on his new fortunes, leading Kurt Marko to become a neglectful father to Cain. Kurt also favored Charles Xavier, Brian's son and his godson, over his own son, as the young boy was gentle and smarter than Cain. Eventually, Cain began to grow contemptuous towards Charles as his father would always give him attention. This disdain intensified into outright hatred as the years went by.
After Brian Xavier died, Kurt Marko subsequently provided comfort to his old friend's widow, Sharon Xavier. He helped her get through her grief and he reminded her of a side of her husband that she'd missed. After a few months of dating, Kurt and Sharon decided to get married and Kurt suddenly became a very wealthy man, with him being entrusted to Brian's old patents left to Sharon after his death. Shortly after his marriage with Sharon, Kurt decided to move into the Xavier Mansion in Westchester, New York. This really drove Cain into a fit of rage and he begrudgingly left everything he knew in Boston and moved to the small town of Salem Center with his dad to live with his stepmom and stepbrother.
In Salem Center, Cain found he had a hard time fitting in and blamed the Xaviers for his situation. His resentment of Charles grew as his father nurtured the boy's interests in science and intellectual pursuits while turning a blind eye to his own biological son's efforts to please him. This led to Cain often bullying his stepbrother and because of this, his father would beat him as a form of punishment. To Cain, Charles was the golden child who always got good grades and had so many accomplishments over Cain who struggled at everything. Even after their parents discovered his mutant ability, they didn't hate Charles but saw it as another thing that made him special. That and the fact he graduated early from high school and was an exceptional student at Princeton at age 16. In an effort to one-up Charles, Cain enrolled in Empire State University and graduated with a degree in Architecture to impress his father. Instead, Cain was chastened when his father told him that his education was good for little more than manual labor while praising Charles' advancements in genetics and psychology. In rebellion, Cain left New York to enlist in the Marines.
While Cain (age 28) was away at boot camp and Charles (age 24) was still in Princeton, one night at the Xavier Mansion, Sharon Xavier discovered that Kurt Marko had broken his promise to her late husband when she overheard him selling Brian's old inventions to weapons dealers just to get more money off of it. Sharon immediately put a stop to this. Kurt was furious because he had so much money tied up in these deals that terminating them would leave his business ruined. After a brief argument, Kurt quickly grew neglectful of Sharon, driving her into alcoholism, which led to her death from pancreatic cancer.
Sometime after Sharon's death, Charles and Cain returned to Westchester for a brief period of leave when they received news that Kurt Marko was fatally injured in a weapons testing accident at Alamogordo, New Mexico. On his deathbed, Kurt begged his sons' forgiveness for everything from sullying Charles' father's work and neglecting Cain for most of his life. Cain was shocked but in the end, he felt a deep hatred of Charles, and now thanks to him, he had no one. Rather than compassionate leave, Cain volunteered to ship out to El Salvador immediately following his father's funeral.
During the Salvadoran Civil War, Cain found himself excelling at soldiering, although constantly denied promotion and moving backward in the ranks due to insubordination and an overly violent temper. Despite becoming a role model to some of his fellow Marines, Cain attempted to shirk the responsibility of leadership but eventually accepted the position of squad leader.
While on a routine patrol deep into the demilitarized zones, Cain's squad was ambushed by a large contingent of Las Fuerzas Armadas de la Resistencia Nacional (National Resistance Armed Forces). In the ensuing firefight, the entire complement of Cain's squad was killed, and he found himself running for safety. Consumed by anger and shame, Cain sought refuge in an abandoned temple that was made in honor of "Cyttorak", one of the self-styled "Elder Gods", eldritch beings that occult groups like the Masters of the Mystic Arts believed were the first lifeforms to appear on Earth, spawned by the planet's sentient biosphere, the Demiurge. Legends about Cyttorak say that he was one of the few corrupt Elder Gods that survived Atum's crusade and would rain down chaos and destruction upon humanity until he was defeated by a mysterious warlord only known as "The Morning Light".
As Cain stumbled into the Temple of Cyttorak, he discovers an underground chamber adorned with runes and hieroglyphs, that repeated one word, over and over again--"juggernaut". At the chamber's center was a large statue of Cyttorak bearing a ruby the size of his fist. He made the decision to take the ruby and sell it on the Salvadoran black market, using the money to buy a ticket out of the Central American hellhole and just disappear. Instead, the moment he touched the crimson gem, everything changed.
An otherworldly presence enveloped Cain, and the gem sank into his chest. The release of power coupled with Cain's immense rage forged a bond between Marko and Cyttorak, who was imprisoned in the gem. The overwhelming energies of the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak activated Cain's long-dormant X-gene, transforming him into a massive eight-foot-tall powerhouse, strong and invulnerable. Cain collapsed into a coma, and was recovered by a search and rescue team and evacuated to a hospital. Eventually, his comatose body would be taken to Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC, where he would spend almost two decades in a coma.
While comatose, the military enlisted a psychic, a Weapon X operative named Aldo Ferro, to attempt to read Cain's subconscious mind to learn the details of what had happened to him and if it could be repeated. While fruitless, the telepathic invasion ingrained a severe dislike for telepaths into Cain's mind and created an unintentionally direct link between Cain and Cyttorak. With the captive Elder God now speaking into his thoughts, Cain awoke from his coma and walked through the walls of the hospital, disappearing into the night.
For the next ten years, Marko, now this "Unstoppable Juggernaut", used his newfound power as a mercenary, doing odd jobs for the highest bidder. During this time, he occasionally partnered with fellow mutant criminal Black Tom Cassidy and his young daughter, Theresa Cassidy, also known as Siryn. One day, Cain was approached by Magneto, founder and leader of the Brotherhood of Mutant Supremacy. Impressed by Juggernaut's immense strength and power, Magneto wanted to use him to defeat and publicly humiliate his arch-enemies, the X-Men, in order to send a message to his former friend and now foe, Professor Charles Xavier. Still having a grudge against his stepbrother Charles, Cain immediately accepted the job from the master of magnetism.
Cain then attacked a heavily-populated area in New York City in order to draw out the X-Men. The X-Men, with the aid of Iron Man and the Fantastic Four, eventually stopped him in one of their most seminal battles. They discovered that by removing his special helmet, he was vulnerable to psychic attacks. So, Professor Xavier defeated Cain with his telepathy. Once subdued, Xavier paid to have Cain shipped by S.H.I.E.L.D. to be incarcerated in the Vault, a super-max detention facility specially designed to house mutants and other super-powered beings. Under the supervision of the Vault's warden, Commander Roger Browning, Cain was permanently placed within a special containment unit in suspended animation until someone could figure out how to separate him from the power that made him Juggernaut. To date, no one has succeeded. Soon, the Vault wouldn't hold "the unstoppable" for long, because, after a couple of years, he would be freed by the Brotherhood, welcoming him into their ranks to assist them in Magneto's uprising on Genosha. Since then, the Juggernaut remains one of the X-Men's most volatile enemies, always coming back for more after beating him....

Don't you know who I am?! I'M THE JUGGERNAUT, BITCH!!!!!
Finally, here's the Unstoppable Juggernaut in all of his glory! His armor is the physical manifestation of the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak, which remains within him to this day. While he has proved to somewhat stoppable at times, he would go on to be a recurring foe for the X-Men and other heroes.
Originally, I wanted to base Juggernaut's design off of his Last Stand counterpart or a redesigned version of his classic costume. But, I decided to do some different. My inspiration from this design is based off from Green-Mamba 's design of Juggernaut for their "Greater Marvel Universe" project, which reminded me of when Cain Marko was possessed by Kuurth in the comics. Speaking of which, you guys should probably their designs. I promise you they're pretty awesome! Anyway, I did liked the idea of Juggernaut looking more like a mystical monster, giving him broken chains, runes, and everything. I also added two red eyes in his visor to make him look more menacing.
About his powers, in this universe, Cain was born a recessive X-gene was dormant until his adulthood when he came into contact with the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak, which finally activated it after all these years. This is similar in X-Men Evolution, where instead of being a mutate, Juggernaut was a mutant empowered by the gem's mystical powers.
In the Main Marvel Universe, Cyttorak was unrelated to the Demiurge and the Elder Gods. Instead, he was just some extradimensional entity that originated from a realm called the Crimson Cosmos. In Earth-PRN101, Cyttorak was an Elder God who represented destruction and was one of the few who survived Atum's slaughter of all the evil Elder Gods, alongside with Set and Chthon. After getting his powers, Cyttorak's disembodied consciousness remains a constant presence in Cain's mind, encouraging his penchant for rage and violence. While Cain is usually in control as Juggernaut, there are times where Cyttorak takes over, whether to experience causing havoc upon the innocent or maybe find a way to free himself from his prison and exact revenge on the one who imprisoned him....
I hope you guys like it.
