Description Merry Christmas Eve, Everybody!!!!

Next up on the Beyondverse Thirteen Primes is Onyx Prime, the first Beastformer!

This was my first attempt at doing a bestial Transformer, so I apologize if Onyx's proportions are a bit off, especially his centaur body and legs.

Onyx's color scheme is based on a depiction of the character made by Devaron9 and Stonecrusher for their fan-made series, Autobot Academy .

Before anyone says anything, Beyondverse Onyx isn't killed and impersonated by a time-traveling Shockwave in an over-complicated plot to destroy Cybertronian civilization and rebuild it in his own image.

Overview: Of the Thirteen, Onyx Prime, the "Lord of Beasts", is the most spiritually-minded of their number, in tune with both the creatures of the natural world and the intangible realm of the spirit. He alone has the ability to properly use the three-faced Triptych Mask given to him by Primus; this artifact allows him to cast his spirit across vast distances to commune with the dreams of far-off beings, or even track the journey of a Spark across the afterlife. Though some view these strange mental voyages across distant realms as mere flights of fancy, Onyx and his visions make him one of the most inspirational Primes.

Voice Actor: Ward Perry

Personality: Onyx Prime was more in tune with nature as a part of it, whereas Alchemist Prime understood its elements. His spiritual aptitude allowed him to cultivate an inscrutable presence that made him appear mysterious and slightly intimidating at the best of times, even to the other members of the Thirteen. Onyx has an alpha nature like many strong Maximals and Predacons descended from him, but otherwise, he was a kind-hearted and friendly individual at Spark, a trait that made him one of the most liked members of the Thirteen. Indeed, all of his siblings treated him as a fiercely loyal companion and a steadfast confidant--Micronus Prime, in particular, who regarded Onyx as his closest friend. He was also very close to Solus Prime (much to Megatronus Prime's chagrin).

Weaponry/Equipment:
  • The Triptych Mask: The three-faced Triptych Mask is Onyx Prime's main artifact. It allows him to see what others can't: times, places, souls, and even the afterlife. The top mask, Farsight, showed visions of other places and times. The middle mask, Predator, gave Onyx immediate insight into any creature so that he can hunt it faultlessly. The bottom mask, Mournsong, allows Onyx to watch the journey of a Spark across the hidden regions of death.
  • The Primal Spear: The Primal Spear serves as Onyx Prime's main melee weapon, which he uses to channel his strength and power derived from nature to attack the most powerful enemies.

Abilities:

  • Nature Sync: Extremely tuned with all forms of nature, Onyx Prime has the ability to tap into the elements of nature and absorb them within his body. This allows him to achieve incredible feats of immense strength and power.

-----
Onyx Prime was the eighth member of the Thirteen Primes produced by the AllSpark through the will of Primus, to serve as the leaders and warriors of the Cybertronian race. During the Age of the Primes, Onyx was known as a fierce warrior, but he had a more balanced and elemental quality than most of his siblings. He fought valiantly in the Thirteen and the Knights of Cybertron's battle against Unicron, but also had a spiritual side that intrigued some of his fellows while flummoxing others. During the Unicron Battles, each of the Primes was affected by the Chaos-Bringer's darkness due to their close proximity to him.

Unicron's influence eventually led to the Primes undergoing a period of aggressive colonization and expansion. This saw them colonizing distant worlds and terraforming them in Cybertron's likeness, which led to the mass extinction of the planets' original inhabitants. Onyx Prime was among the few Primes (the others being Micronus Prime, Quintus Prime, and The Arisen) who were fascinated by non-Cybertronian life and wished to preserve them. Onyx Prime, along with a faithful crew of followers aboard his loyal Titan companion Chela, settled on an uninhabited jungle planet that he dubbed "Eukaris", which was intended to be a safe refuge where bestial Transformers like him could live free from prejudice and discrimination.

He would remain on Eukaris for thousands of meta-cycles until he returned to Cybertron during the events that led to the First Cybertronian Civil War. The death of Solus Prime hit Onyx harder than any other member of the Primes. It was Onyx who discovered her body in her workshop when he was visiting to comfort his siblings after hearing about the recent death of Amalgamous Prime. According to the Covenant of Primus, the cry that Onyx Prime let loose after seeing the body of his closest sibling even chilled A-3 to his very oil. He had to be physically restrained by Vector Prime's power after finding Solus, and held in that position to prevent him from seeking vengeance on Megatronus Prime himself. The tensions between the Primes would immediately boil over into full-blown hostilities, beginning the First Cybertronian Civil War.

During the war's later stages, after his forces were decimated in the initial battles, Megatronus Prime journeyed into space with his surviving followers to find a way to gain the upper hand over the other Primes. He eventually discovered Dark Energon, the fossilized blood of Unicron the Chaos-Bringer himself. He used the substance to turn himself and his army into Terrorcons, warriors insane with power and rage. In the Battle of Weeping Crystals, Megatronus' Terrorcons launched an attack on Crystal City. While the Primes were able to drive Megatronus and his Terrorcons off-world, the battle left Onyx Prime gravely injured. Crippled and suffering from fatal injuries, Onyx Prime was placed into suspended animation within his sarcophagus to retain his life functions till the end of the war.

As Megatronus Prime declared himself "The Fallen" forevermore and was banished into eternal limbo, the remaining members of the Thirteen questioned what to do next. Solus Prime's body had melted down to the core of Cybertron, creating a font of life that could potentially produce new Cybertronians. As his dying act, Onyx Prime volunteered to catalyze the process, journeying down into this "Well of All Sparks" with the power of his Triptych Mask reorganizing the thirteen patterns of the Thirteen into an endless variety of new Cybertronians. They believed the power of Primus would preserve Onyx Prime at the core forevermore, keeping him from the death awaiting his injuries. Quintus Prime and Alchemist Prime both contributed some of their cosmic power and skills to this experiment as well, ensuring its success. In the end, The Arisen and Micronus Prime chose to journey down into the Well with Onyx. The Arisen intended to be reincarnated among the new sparks, allowing him to live among them and learn from them. Micronus could not bear to be parted from Onyx, and chose to become one with Primus with his mortally wounded friend as well.

The experiment was a success, and the Well of All Sparks soon erupted with an endless array of new lifeforms, brought into existence by Onyx Prime and the power of his siblings. The Maximals and the Predacons of the Age of Evolution certainly drew strongly from Onyx's pattern, as did the other beastformers that followed in their wake over time.
