She was a hidden character, and you know how Mega Man got when he did his power attack (sort of looks like "Mazinger"?) well Roll gets a similar power

Ahhh... I wasn't good at finding hidden characters. I found Reptile for the first Mortal Kombat and that's about it.
I don't remember ever seeing his power attack.

I wanted to bring forward her original look but of course add some depth and such and I was genuinely surprised at how well the highlights and all worked out together in this one

I think you succeeded in all forms of your intentions here. It made me think of the power she held in the MvC games during the transformation, but also show her kindness and sensitivity of her regular character (granted, I never got too deep into MegaMan).
