Ruby Gloom.This character is cute as a button, and once again was a bit of a challenge to draw as I have never attempted something like this before.

I used the pen tool here. The hardest part were the little eyelashes (I had to get creative with that as I couldn't figure out any way to make a dashed line with just the pen tool). Actually, the bigger eyelashes I spent almost a half hour on and I learnt something important:
If you create an object and change it's centre of rotation with Photoshop, when you leave the "edit" mode the centre of rotation is LOST and you have to set it again and again. I thought for sure there was a way to preserve it, but no way, no how
But, err, yeah, this is all raster, the background I freehanded with a big old brush and a bit of a jittery flow (and three beers 
Anyway, I should teach myself how to use Illustrator or something at some point.

I use Adobe Fireworks CS3, think photoshop but more focused on web things rather than pretty graphics, and the only tool i EVER use is the pen tool. That's what i use to make everything.
And well, i haven't tried changing the centre of rotation in photoshop so i don't know, but Fireworks memorizes the position of it.

Also, as a long time animation fan I have to say that the show has the best character development I've seen from a Canadian production in probably 20 years. And darn it if Ruby isn't the sweetest animated kid ever.
