Description
Esta midnight and a filly Celestia travel along the grey world AKA the film noir world. A sub world within the world. Having escaped the collapse of the royal city.
Only souls can enter the grey world through the gates of Hades. The two souls travel from their bodies and down into the world devoid of colour. Here the darkness plays on your mind, saps your will to live eventually you become lost, a creature that craves life to live; to feel.

Lucky for the two travelers Celestia's light keeps the darkness at bay, during their journey the two grow closer and start to accept help from each other. Its at this point as Esta looks down at Celestia, they could almost be sisters the way they bicker and rely on each other for support, Esta took to calling her little light bug which Celestia hates.

Esta starts to feel the guilt over what happens in the future but this kind of feeling is dangerous in the grey as they are about to find out......

Celestia: You know without all that ugly armour on you actually look like a mare
Esta: What are you saying *glaring at the filly*
Celestia: I thought you were a dude when we first met
Esta: *speaking through gritted teeth* Keep it up kid and I'll launch you off this moutain
Celestia: Go ahead and then the darkness will eat you! *stamping her hoof down*
Esta: *turns to face her, bringing her face close to hers* It already did kid.
Celestia paused not breaking her glare as they stare each other down...
Celestia: And I can fly anyway *sticking her tongue out*
Esta: Stupid kid
She continues to walk but not too far...she wouldn't really want to loose her light here.

My favorite part of the image is Esta's face, its just right with the mixed amount of happiness, sisterly care and the underlying horrid guilt of her actions to come.

There is a whole story to this but the progress of writing is a slow one so these images from the Fire and Ice saga are just tasters of certain parts of the over all story which I first started with the Princess Ember and the Prince of ice meeting for the first time here: atomicwarpin.deviantart.com/ar…

This is the second image of the story although this scene takes place a bit later on, all should be revealed once the first chapter is finished, for now this is all I can give.
