Description
This is another redesign of my DualDash video game console. Starting where I left off with my previous design of the console, I basically replaced much of the features with something different, but I still retained the black dome containing the console logo, the 3.5" floppy disk drive, the fans on the sides of the unit, and that oval light in the middle, which I'll get to later on.The console itself still has the spaceship-style appearance and dark grayish blue color, but now comes with two serial controller ports instead of the PS/2 ports found on old computers. The front buttons now have symbols, with the text underneath the buttons instead. The previously motorized disc tray has been replaced with a slot-loading mechanism with an 8x-speed CD-ROM drive. There's also a window under the logo dome showing the disc spinning inside. The POWER and EJECT buttons are now orange and blue, with the POWER button lighting up when the console has been turned on, and the EJECT button lighting up whenever the console is reading a disc. The orange oval light will start blinking when a disc is being read, but will otherwise remain on during gameplay (except during loading screens or when an audio CD is being played).
The controller also has some new changes, although it retains the analog pad and trackball. All buttons on the controller are now numeric, typical of a PC game controller (although buttons 9 and 10 in the middle are used for "select" and "start" respectively). As such, the controller also has two new buttons on the back as part of the shoulder buttons. The controller also has a new analog stick for controlling the camera in-game. While the analog pad is used for platform games or other video game genres, the trackball is used mostly for point-and-click adventures and strategy games.
Overall, I think this redesign is a huge improvement compared to my previous efforts. It's more detailed, aesthetically presentable and feels a lot more authentic.
