Description I made this nonsense while listening to a remix to VIVIT's theme doll's phantom then looking at Seihou translations threw in Ruukoto 'cause she's there to put in, it's a joke i've been making for a while. We have well, VIVIT, Reimu, Marisa, and a very tiny Aya, because VIVIT shrunk her. She asks for the Holy Grail in Shuusou Gyoku extra stage and reimu basically says "what", Marisa says she's looking in the wrong place.

Oh man, Hydra gets the benefit of being introduced to you, in a forced one on one battle and having a badass story attached. As you fight the monsters, you notice the red text accompanied by gibberish, that is the monster telling you it's story from their human form's perspective, but the book you can find a non bias version of the tale. Here's my short version of Hydra's story.
A man of no money and no skill needed to feed the family he loved very much. In his desperation, he became a mercenary, offering cheap prices and fine work. He wielded swords, and he became a well known and feared merc, given the title "sword juggler" as he effectively wielded 3 swords at once. Until one day, a general was warned that he was going against our "sword juggler" in cowardly fear, he poisoned the man. It didn't kill him, but it did render him unable to wield the sword. Then the mystical, sacred chalice appeared before him, made him an offer, make a worthy sacrifice, and I'll give you back your body and more. He could not refuse this offer, he sacrificed the family he was doing this for and the chalice gave him more arms and strength. Able to fight once more, he began challenging everyone. Now his only worthy opponent, are the sorcerers of Avalon who now hunt him... He looks forward to it. *deep breath* I did that, off memory alone, that tells you how good the story is

I chuckle at myself reading that you plan to read up, it takes place in a book do there's a lot of reading material. There is an in game explanation to every mechanic in the game, right down to a detailed explanation of why the arm changes as a sorcerer lives. There's actually a trophy, for having been on every page of the book. There's WELL over a thousand pages. Each monster story alone is about pages each and includes a well done illustration. They took the "in game book of lore" VERY seriously. You'll have a great time, it'll be like you are playing the game yourself.
So that wall of text that read hydra's story, there's a longer version with better story telling, in game and I really wish someone would go out of their way to make dramatic readings of these tales because they're well written and do a great job explaining the form of the beasts you fight. If you have ANY questions, feel free to ask. By the way, it's only, like, 15 dollars for hundreds of hours of gameplay, it has dlc, its all free, the difficulty, is learnable.

So Toukiden is on Steam and Soul Sacrifice is on ps4?

Attackrage92 In reply to GogoLadyBugXD [2016-01-08 05:19:56 +0000 UTC]

No, Toukiden is on PS4 and psvita and Soul Sacrifice is psVita exclusive...so if you want to play one, you'll have to find a good priced vita, i believe it's cheaper than the 3ds right now, though I believe gamestop stopped selling the Vita at all

both me and my twin brother have the game.

OH, i guess i want to explain 2 things for if/when you start
the leveling system.  You gain experience only after a monster is dead, once dead they return to the original form.  You get the choice of 3 options in Soul sacrifice delta, salvation, sacrifice, and to leave them to their inevitable fate.  Salvation grants you life energy which for future i'll refer to as blue exp, sacrifice give soul energy which i'll be referring to as red exp, and fate gives you luck energy which grants you equal parts blue and red exp if your levels are even.  you life level granted by blue exp increases your defense and the amount you heal yourself and/or others.  On the other hand, red exp gives you magic level ups which increases your damage.  as a result, holy sorcerers have low damage outputs and huge defense, dark sorcerers do a lot of damage but are made of tissue paper, and neutral sorcerers are even in both and tend to be versatile.  In the lore of the game, saving monsters is considered heresy and you will be hunted down for it.  which brings me to the other important mechanic, this one introduced in the Delta version
The faction system, it does, A LOT more than you'd think it does.  There are 3 factions, one hunts the other 2.  The main one is Secret Sect Avalon, they were founded on the principal that all monsters, must die, no exceptions and sacrifice is the way of them, they boost the power of explosives and arm enhancements as a couple examples, few monsters you save will join them, if they do join Avalon, they were likely members before the fact, examples of members include the scarred child Radux and the man in the journal himself (though you can change his faction, after all, it's only a weird talking book).  The second and Avalon's opposite, is Sanctuarium, they believe all life, must be saved, no exceptions, many monsters you save will join them, they boost mostly support type spells such as heal other and shield spells, examples of members include Sympatha and Aegrus.  the last is the one I play on, the Order of Grim, they don't give a crap what happens to the happens to the monsters so long as they are no longer monsters, they in the long run have their own ends and goals, many other monsters will join Order Grim (my luck had fate exclusively save monsters who join grim...), Similia is the only example of a member of Order Grim, and joining saved her life, gave her purpose and much more, the spells they boost are a mix of both damage and support.  I don't know EVERYTHING, about the faction system, but i can tell you, it changes A LOT

Oh, I didn't even scrap the surface on EITHER of those topics, those change a lot in the game and both play a huge deciding factor to how you will play the video game. Like I said, I don't even know everything, and ive 300 hours into the game

Well there was some grinding, trying to get particular souls and lives. Also the eternal maze I'm in for an hour and a half at a time. Also two different files. But it does have a lot of content. Technically infinite possible battles

GogoLadyBugXD In reply to Attackrage92 [2016-01-11 07:28:19 +0000 UTC]

No that's good...if done right grinding can be fun...and it means the game has lots of re- play-ability. Well worth the price!

Especially considering they lowered it to just 15, when I got it, it was 35, which is still a sad price for a game that has that amazing art style

And no one has heard it because it's in the Psvita, hooray, thanks for advertising it Sony, you are totally not the reason the Psvita failed. UGH, they didn't support their own smash bros game either. NOTE: there is anime art style trailer for the game. They advertised soul sacrifice delta, but not true console it was on.
Fun fact, the person credited as the producer of the game, is Megaman's Keji Inafune, it was the first game he made after leaving capcom. It's a fun game and I hate that no one has heard of it because the Psvita failed so hard...

The background color is something you stop noticing when you actually play the game trust me, it got to the point for me where the only background i notice is the sky background in stage 3, and only because that is where the game speeds up for no reason when i was playing on my lappy...
