We'll start off the New Year...with a blast from the past. A few years ago, Aster the Renamon was the star of a little fan story that I was working on. But in the long run, we chose to cancel working on it. Mainly because we wanted to work on something original, or to pursue other paths.

But let's get back to the image. During the climax of the story, Aster would engage in the final battle with her archenemy, a Cerberumon named Coal. In order to combat his power, Aster went on a journey and came back with a special item to turn the tide. She acquired a Digi-Core from Anubismon, which would allow her a one-time Warp Digivolution to Mega, putting her on par with Coal. Even though Coal was just an Ultimate level Digimon, due to the sheer amount of data he had absorbed put him on the level of a Mega. Meaning this final fight would be down to skill.

I had planned to give Aster a series of digivolutions of her own, which were similar to a traditional Renamon, but different. Kitsunemon was a 3 tailed form, and an offshoot of Kyubimon. CyberKitsunemon would be Aster's Ultimate form, possessing 6 tails and acting more like a ninja as opposed to a Taoist Monk. Finally, comes MetalKitsunemon, a 9 tailed Mega form which took a lot of design inspiration from the Orbital Frames of the Zone of the Enders series. That's the form she's changing into here.

Maybe I'll draw Aster again someday. But for now, it was nice to see her again like this.
