Description
Acrylic on board canvas 16x20I was trying to paint a modern prophet of some sort but since the version I made technically looks quite crappy to me I shelved the idea. This [then- unfinished] painting caught my eye. It was supposed to be a gift for my friend Meggy [the best way to make me paint quite slowly is to request for a free painting, strangely], started sometime 2005/2006. Back then I didn’t know what colors to apply to it so I literally just shoved it somewhere [it even got wet by some of the rain drops that seeped through the ceiling but that part was easily coverable]. And well, now, I managed to finish it.
The writing isn’t really supposed to be readable- that was kind of the point of it… but for the curious, it reads:
"Punctuated silently, my secret will be safe in those days of unwritten poetry and loss and song and whispered entendres and small comedies unforgiven, unforgotten in time.”
Crazy gibberish I thought up one night, as usual.
And yes, she doesn’t have eyebrows.
And the camera couldn’t quite capture the gold and copper paints I used and the impasto technique I put in the background.
[Btw, Meggy, if you’re reading this right now, feel free to claim it before I decide to get attached to it

It is beautiful. Great composition and colors. I really like the words in it too. Excellent!
