So excited for this game. I had to make my own OC, so here is Wisp. She is a firefly squid. What a cutie~
I made her for an Splatoon rp I'm doing with about how the Don Greyso and his shark mafia take over Booyah Base and the whole city and how friendly turf wars become much more dangerous and more craziness that Wisp gets herself involved in. She's kinda like a cool, but silent chick. I can see her being good friends with Annie the Anemone...
Anyways, I'm open to rps if anyone wants to do a splatoon rp or whatever.

I'm also studying to be a marine biologist so I know a lot of different squid species

To answer your question, I've lived on the ocean my entire life so I've grown up on the water and my whole life is surrounded by the sea c:

To be honest, I did tried to study something else. I worked with heart surgeons for 2 years for an internship when I was 16 and went to college with a pre-medical track. After 3 years, I just couldn't take it anymore. It really wasn't for me. I found it fascinating, after seeing some deaths and finding them super hard to not take them personal I went on a soul searching journey. I mean, when you work in a hospital, you kinda have to close your heart and not get attached with people cause they had a possible of dying and what did I do? I always visited my patients the next day after the surgery, especially the children, so their deaths broke me even more so.
So first I thought about being a history major because I'm actually really good at history, but when I would go home for the summer, I would go fishing all day with my father. My friends kept asking me why I don't just study marine biologist. So when I went back to school in september all senior pre-med/biology students (I'm technically biology with a minor in marine bio) have to do a research project and my advisor directed me to the only marine biologist in school. Me and him spoke about what I really wanted to do and all the ideas I had and even set up a little test that if marine biology is what I really wanted to do. He wanted me to find information on any marine animal and come back to him tomorrow with a presentation. He just wanted to see if I was really passionate or not. So all night I searched for the perfect marine animal and hopeful find a cool one and then I found the elusive Giant Oarfish. Taking one look upon this sea creature I feel absolutely head-over-heels. Coming back to the next day, the presentation was a busy because this animal is so elusive that there is absolutely no research on the animal, but the way I gushed about it and spoke about ever single fact that is known about that animal he took me on as his research student and now I'm doing my research.
I do hope one day to be doing research on Giant Oarfish. Actually this summer there has been a documentary where they kinda found a 'common' grounds were one or two might resurface and one person got to swim with one (lucky bastard), but since even now there are no research articles about it, I decided that in graduate school I would study the oar fish and other deep sea marine life
and also firefly squid. They are the cutest things <33

That I can sympathise with that, the fear of getting to know a person who dies later on, even if only for a little while..
Those are some great goals to work towards, and you seem to have a lot of passion in marine biology compared to medical biology, so it was great you were able to switch! If you do research those creatures, it'd be great to learn about them
