We sat eagerly, my sister and I
having refreshed the webpage of district closings
a thousand times already.
Praying for the superintendent to
hurry up already! we have plans!
about what to do tomorrow.
In breathless anticipation
of the ringing telephone
we picked at our food
and paced by the phone.
Waiting for the rings.
And then, after the initial
ohmygod the phone the phone!
and then letdown
(it’s just Grandpa again)
a few times,
we got it.
A message for the children-
snow day.
