When I was younger,I would go sledding
at the JCC near me.
Slogging through endless snow
dragging an ancient Flexible Flyer
Always pausing in front of the
No Trespassing, Property of the JCC
sign that terrified me
before ducking in.
Just me, my dad, my sister
would fly down the hills.
When I have days off,
I go sledding
at the JCC near me.
Hurrying through ankle-high snow,
pulling an old Flexible Flyer
Never pausing in front of the
No Trespassing, Property of the JCC
sign someone spray-painted over
I walk casually in.
Me, my friends, their siblings, a dog
all fly down the hills.
