It’s been a couple of days since I last posted a photo, so I thought I’d look back into my archives from a week ago. I snapped this picture at the intersection of SW 10th and west Burnside in Portland’s Pearl District. My sister wanted to pay a visit to Powell’s Book Store and it made for an interesting new experience for me. (Though I forgot to snap pictures of the store. ) This shot of the intersection appeared pretty nice that day, getting glimpses of cars and pedestrians going about their ways, and some businesses like the new Shake Shack in Portland (hopefully doing better after a pre-opening setback). While Portland may be regarded as a black sheep in today’s media landscape, this stretch of the city appeared pretty calm and normal from my point a view. What I hope may be a sign of the Rose City putting itself back together following the dumpster fire that was 2020. It may take a while but I hope Portland may one day be able to regain its reputation as a robust and inclusive city going into the future.
