Description
Superfluous thingsFrom ceiling to floor
Obscenely large balloons
And hearts on the door
Fools confess the folly of love
Confused on what else to do
Sickness spreading through words
More contagious than the flu
Gladly there are those
Who are immune to the feeling
Those who can resist
Never giggling or squealing
I am one of the blessed
The chosen ones of reason
Who may keep their minds intact
Around this worst of season
A flood of red and pink
An inferno, one might say
But no, not for me
This is just another day

I cant totally relate to this poem...of course on Valentines day I was forced to hand out carnations, but that's beside the point...
Again, your words seem to be cynical... but I go for cynical. It is really nicely worded. It kind clearly states your reasoning and your view of such a holiday, which is good. I like the opening line and ending line. Let me explain, when you compare the two without the rest of the peom, they contrast each other very nicely. Very nicely written!
