Death theory:The humans died in order of; Purple, Blue, Aqua, Green, Yellow, and then Orange.
In the order of finding the objects, it would be from; Aqua, Orange, Blue, Purple, Green, and then Yellow.
Even though they seem out of order due to how you find the items, I do believe it goes in colour order. Seeing as though Purple is the farthest back in the room where the coffins are. Though, it could go the other way around. Seeing as though if you name your character Chara and look at the coffins, you can see that it actually goes from Red to Purple. Which would make sense. The coffin baring the player's name is empty. Whilst most would just assume that it was for when Asgore killed Frisk. Though, it could also be for Chara. They were originally kept in the same room as the rest of the humans but Toriel had moved their body to bury them properly, meaning their coffin would be empty.
Back to the human deaths. In my opinion, Purple must have died first due to their coffin being so far back. Seeing how Purple Attack, if talking about Muffet, stay on lines, we can assume they couldn't handle the fact that in the Waterfall there are invisible paths. They could have gotten overwhelmed and made an easy target with their panic. We can also assume that Gerson had stumbled upon their things whilst walking and kept them when he remembered the child. Though he does hand over the soul to the king but kept the notebook and glasses for himself to remember how hard the kid worked to find an easy way out of the Underground without killing.
Blue would have been the second to die. Whilst it was never said, nor is it proven, I believe that these humans came in contact with the main characters we see in the game. I feel as if Papyrus would have been very young when they met the Blue human. They would be very passionate about music, dancing, and over all being honest to yourself and others. I could see Papyrus taking after them, even if he doesn't remember them. Papyrus is extremely passionate about becoming part of the Royal Guard and his cooking. He never doubts himself and he tries to lie but he always hints at the truth when he does. Even if he doesn't remember, I could defiantly see him taking after the Blue human. Their death is a bit...hard to really understand. Seeing that you find their items in different places, you can guess that they might have lost their shoes and then was more than likely killed under the Waterfall at some point. More than likely trying to hide and keep themselves safe.
Next up would be Aqua. Sadly, they don't get very far. Whilst they seem as if they could have some sort of violent side to them, I disagree. Aqua represents patience. They would have been terrified to harm anything and I feel as if they would be very scared when it come to fighting, too scared to move. This would be the reason they would die so early on in the game. Coming into contact with any monster that had become violent towards them, it just makes sense that they wouldn't put up much of a fight and not even be upset about dying. They would have forgiven someone for their sins easily.
Green is next. I enjoy the idea of them showing a young Undyne kindness and even the magic of cooking. Thus being the reason why she shows Papyrus how to cook. She is showing the kindness she was shown when she was younger. Perhaps she doesn't remember the human that showed her their and could have replaced their face with Gerson. We learn from him that she had followed him around when she was young so it makes sense that she could have possibly replaced Green's memory with the older turtle. For their death you can assume that since you find their frying pan, which you can guess they used it as a shield, then you can imagine how they died. Not being able to black attacks and not being able to move, makes them an easy target and they were quickly added to the collection of souls.
For Yellow, this is hard. Whilst Mettaton is the one that turns you yellow, he was created by Alphys. We can then put the pieces together with how they impacted Alphys. She struggles with her past experiment that she executed when working with DETERMINATION, which is extracted from the human souls. Since Yellow represents Justice, you can assume she was inspired once more by Frisk to come out and tell the truth about what she had done. We can assume that she was first introduced to their by the Yellow human. Another thought is about their gun. Perhaps they were pretending to be a sheriff and where 'fighting' the bad guys in the underground. We can't really know if they had bullets when they first came down there or if the gun was empty in the first place. For the sake of going along with Justice, I'm going to say it was loaded. The kid with this could have been way too excited about fighting and doing something good and when a monster that seemed really bad came along, they unloaded the gun on it, only to find out that it meant no real harm and was more than likely just in a bad mood. Ashamed, Yellow could have thrown the gun and hat both into the garbage. Feeling like utter trash we can just go along with the fact that Yellow didn't want to fight back any monster that attacked because they felt like the /deserved/ it. Having their soul taken to be one set closer to freed for the monsters in trade for forgiveness of the monster they had killed. Or we can go with the fact that it was empty when they fell and just used it as a way to make monsters to back down. Then we could assume a monster called their bluff and took them down, dumping their things in the garbage and giving the soul to Asgore.
Orange. We find the items in the Snowdin shop. This means they also didn't get very far. We can guess why. Being the last one there before Frisk, we can guess that Orange wasn't very patient and was itching for a fight. So when they came in contact with Doggo, they couldn't really stand around and do nothing. So they got hit. Weak from that fight, and more than likely mad, they continued to walk then was caught by Dogamy and Dogaressa. Of course we can just assume that they were killed in the fight and their soul was taken to Asgore and their items were found by someone and sold to the Shopkeeper in Snowdin, thinking that they were just regular old things no one would miss.
Personally, I love the idea of the humans becoming close with the main characters and influenced them in some way. The idea of a young Sans being a little shadow of the Purple human and learning hard work from them. Though it does seem that Sans is rather lazy, which I'm sure he is, we can also see he works really hard. Making his brother happy, having multiple jobs, and even being a scientist. He puts things together faster than anyone, excluding Flowey. He's quick to learn about everything the player/Frisk does and even toys with them a little.
