Ekmal woke up to the sudden shocking realization that Pamelyn was truly dead and would never be his again. He spent a couple of hours hovering between shock and tears before he called the cops.

He was told that the police had concluded that Pamelyn probably fallen into the pool after fainting or slipping and drowned in her unconscious state. No foul play was suspected and the case was closed. Ekmal felt incredulous and told the police that he saw a man trying to drown Pamelyn. The police officer pulled Ekmal aside and whispered to him that they probably knew who did it because of his modus operandi. A few pregnant women had died before as well. But that person’s father was someone very rich and powerful and it would be wise not to say anything more about it. He threatened to charge Ekmal for murder if he persisted. Ekmal knew how corrupted the police was in his country and said nothing more.

Ekmal was then led into the morgue in the basement and was shown to a steel table, on which rested his decomposing, pregnant wife, covered with a white sheet.
