*Revenant - A revenant is a visible ghost or animated corpse that was believed to return from the grave to terrorize the living. The word "revenant" is derived from the Latin word, revenans, "returning", from the verb "revenir". That is the wikipedia definition. It's more of a term the society of creatures/humans adapted to avoid such serialized terms as 'zombies', or worse, and more inaccurately, 'vampires'. These people are neither, nor. They live longer than regular humans. About three times as long, with an average life span of around 280 years. In exchange for this they experience a bit of difficulty controlling their anger, and they are nearly powerless against their bodily urges. Some also develop a hunger for flesh. In worse cases, revenants turned by aristocrats, there can be actual physical transformations into ruthless, bloodthirsty creatures.
Most revenants were human at one point and were turned by other human-revenants or aristocratic-revenants during unspeakable rituals. Aristocratic revenants live much longer and were born as revenants.
