A NYC Hudson hauls your typical heavyweight passenger train on one of the NYCs many flat, high speed lines.
The Hudsons were the pinnacle of late era steam. It is a great shame none made it to preservation, but at least we still have a tender.

Influenced by Lionel modelers, New York Central's fabulous 4-6-4 Hudsons were an excellent locomotive design, named after the Hudson River.
There were once fifty 'J-3' class locomotives on the NYC line, known for hauling crack passenger trains such as the "20th Century Limited" also known as "The Most Famous Train in the World" at high speed.
The most powerful Hudsons built by Lima, the 'J-3's reached speed at 77 mph as they produced 4700HP.
Sadly there were no survivors of the famous NYC Hudsons after the last one was scrapped in 1956.
