Inspired by an idea YouTube user System509 suggested during Sasso Studios' Sonic 29th Birthday livestream.
So, after another hard battle with the bad guys while the Classic dimension was clashed with Modern, both Tails's decide they are too tired to do any more and decide to rest here and they ultimately fall asleep. During their sleeping, they both toss and turn, causing their tails to move in unconventional ways, and because they were sleeping so close together, well... it should be obvious. This is the exact moment they realize what happened shortly after waking up and wondering who got their tails.
